Team Biden Moves in on Anti-Trump Republicans, Haley Voters

Team Biden has begun its outreach to Never Trump Republicans earnestly. Five months out from the presidential election, Biden is tied with Trump in many national polls. In battleground states, Trump is up over Biden, except in Wisconsin, where he is tied with Biden.

On all the major issues, Trump beats Biden, usually in double digits. The two top issues, the economy and immigration/border security, are a disaster for Biden. Not even Trump's criminal convictions in the hush money trial have moved the needle. Some polling shows Trump with a little bump in support after the Manhattan courthouse clown show was over.

Anita Dunn, senior Biden adviser and big fan of Mao, is leading the White House's outreach to Republican voters. The focus is on Never Trumpers and those who continued to vote for Nikki Haley in primaries even after she suspended her campaign. On Thursday evening, Politico reported that Dunn is working on bringing Never Trumpers into the fold.

The Biden campaign is hiring Austin Weatherford, chief of staff for former Rep. Adam Kinzinger as the leader of Republican outreach.

The campaign is using focus group results and polling to figure out the best way to reach roughly 20% of Republican primary voters. That is how many typically kept voting for Haley after she suspended her campaign.

Anita Dunn has met with potential anti-Trump allies like Cassidy Hutchinson, Trump's chief of staff's former assistant. Campaign aides held a Zoom call last week with two dozen former members of Congress, all Republicans.

Haley's numbers may not seem like a big deal in most states but in battleground states, it is important that Trump reaches out to secure them as his voters. For example, in Wisconsin where Trump and Biden are tied, Haley received 12.7% of Republican primary voters. That can make a difference in November. Why leave those votes on the table for Biden to scoop up?

The Biden campaign is trying to attract the women suburban Haley voters who focus on national security. The campaign thinks voters are exhausted by Trump's alleged attacks on the Constitution. They think suburban women may find Biden more acceptable because he restores decency back in the White House.

Excuse me while I laugh out loud at the lack of self-awareness exhibited by Team Biden. Projection, much? There has been nothing decent about the Biden administration. Cocaine mysteriously turned up outside the Oval Office, deeply troubled First Son Hunter and his family live in the White House off and on, the Biden crime family is being investigated by congressional committees, and Biden is the most divisive president in my lifetime. He demonizes former President Trump and his supporters at every opportunity. First Lady Jilly from Philly called Republicans evil.

This year, suburban moms are most concerned about the economy and inflation as they try to fill up their grocery carts and gas tanks to feed their families and haul the kids around. Suburban moms are concerned about the lack of law and order in Biden's America. They no longer feel safe in their communities because of a rise in crime, violence, and judges who release violent criminals back into society.

Biden and his fellow travelers are off the rails in their rhetoric because they are panicked. In a normal election, the incumbent president would be up over his challenger by now, especially with the criminal convictions in play. That is what Team Biden counted on. But that has backfired. Americans see the lawfare used against Trump as wrong. Biden yammers about saving democracy while he is trying to see his leading opponent locked up before the November election.

Democrats are fantasizing about a former president handcuffed and marched off to prison. They want to see him in an orange jumpsuit. We are in new territory in this election. It doesn't look like another trial will be held with Trump before November. Trump will be sentenced for the hush money trial just four days before the Republican convention in July. Will the corrupt judge in that case send him to jail? In-house detention that would keep him off the campaign trail? We have to wait and find out.

Nikki Haley said she will vote for Trump because of how horrible Biden is. She needs to step up, swallow her pride, and ask her voters to do the same. This will be a close election and every vote will count.
