Rick Scott trolls the NAACP in just the right way

Socialism is not welcome in Florida. That is the message from Florida’s junior senator. Rick Scott trolled the NAACP in a clever way after the civil rights organization called for a boycott of Florida by black people.

Scott issued a press release letting all know that socialism isn’t going to play in Florida. It was his own travel advisory for everyone, in general, but it was clear that it was meant to mock the NAACP’s bogus race-baiting attack on Governor DeSantis as he prepared to enter the GOP primary race.

Today, Senator Rick Scott issued a formal travel advisory for all socialists visiting the state of Florida. The travel advisory comes in direct response to the Biden Administration attempts to erase capitalism and the system that has brought prosperity to Florida and the entire United States.

The formal travel notice states, “Florida is openly hostile toward Socialists, Communists, and those that enable them. Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by Socialists and others who work in the Biden Administration.”

“Let me be clear – any attempts to spread the oppression and poverty that Socialism always brings will be rebuffed by the people of Florida. Travelers should be aware that attempts to spread Socialism in north Florida will fail and be met with laughter and mockery,” said former Governor and now Senator Scott.

“However, in much of Central and South Florida, the situation is far more dangerous for Socialists, as they may encounter people from Cuba, Venezuela, and other parts of Central and South America and the Caribbean who have direct knowledge of, and experience with, the horrors of Socialism.”

Republicans frequently point to socialism when they criticize the progressive left. Democrats have a tendency to turn to big government solutions instead of looking to empower individuals in their own lives. Today’s Democrats are trying to expand the federal government and its reach on ordinary citizens to record levels. The more goodies and “free stuff” that is given to win votes, the more voters are dependent on government in their everyday lives.

Case in point – student loan forgiveness. Fortunately, Republicans won control of the House last November – barely. They voted yesterday to overturn Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan. To add a little icing to that cake, it was Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Republican that Democrats love to hate, who was wielding the gavel. Good times, good times. )

The resolution was brought forth by Rep. Bob Good, (R-VA). It passed 218 to 203. Two Democrats crossed the aisle to join with Republicans to overturn the plan. Democrats Jared Golden of Maine and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington voted against Biden.

Biden’s scheme, er, plan to put taxpayers on the hook for student loans is currently in the Supreme Court. The plan is supposed to bring relief for up to 40 million borrowers who could have qualified for as much as $20,000 in forgiveness. Imagine that. People who didn’t even go to college and people who were responsible and paid back their student loans will be penalized for people who owe student loans. That is some prime socialism right there. Everyone suffers, warranted or not. Your money is the government’s money is their line of thinking.

The resolution goes to the Senate for a vote. Several moderate Democrats have raised objections to the loan forgiveness plan. They may vote with Republicans to stop the scheme from gathering strength.

The measure was brought under the Congressional Review Act, which means it will now have to be taken up by the Senate despite Democratic control in that chamber. It could pass by a simple majority, but the White House has threatened to veto the measure.

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-Va., has railed against the forgiveness plan – and moderate Sens. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., and Jon Tester, D-Mont., could also vote for the resolution.

Republicans also tried to repeal Biden’s program in their party-line debt ceiling bill the Limit Save Grow Act, which was the starting point of their negotiations with the White House over increasing the nation’s $31.4 trillion borrowing limit.

A report by the Congressional Budget Office found Biden’s plan would add $426 billion to the deficit.

If the Supreme Court rules that the plan is unconstitutional, it gives more power to states’ legal challenges against federal policymaking. Most conservatives will think that’s a good thing.

Biden’s plan, announced in August, would forgive $10,000 in student loans for those making less than $125,000 and married couples making less than $250,000 jointly. That forgiveness would go up to $20,000 if the borrower received a Pell grant, which aids students from low-income families.

Couples getting a break who make up to $250,000 on their loans seems like a bridge too far for blue collar workers making far less, who may have not gone to college because they couldn’t afford it, and are responsible in paying their debts. It’s not right to expect them to kick in for the more fortunate.

Scott’s troll was amusing and did have a ring of truth to it. Governor DeSantis, who their stupid boycott was aimed at, is very popular in Florida. He won re-election by almost 20 points. His policies are popular. Life in Florida must not be too scary for black people because the head of the NAACP lives there.

The NAACP has outlived it usefulness. It’s just an arm of the DNC. At one time it was a premier civil rights organization. Now it’s just a joke.
