It's Tuesday which means there are more primary election results today. Specifically, we have various contests in Georgia, Kentucky, Oregon and Idaho. Let's take them in that order.
Editor's Note: We are facing the most consequential election in our nation's history. America won't survive another four years of Democrats. Help HotAir tell the truth about the 2024 election as the left-wing, mainstream media propagandists do all they can to support the Democrats.

Georgia
In Georgia there is a contested State Supreme Court seat which is getting some attention.
Incumbent Justice Andrew Pinson, who was appointed to the nine-member court by Gov. Brian Kemp in 2022, is trying to win a six-year term. He is opposed by John Barrow, a former Democratic congressman.
Barrow says he believes Georgians have a right to abortion under the state constitution, while Pinson says it’s inappropriate for him to talk about issues and important not to make the race partisan.
Barrow actually sued in federal court claiming his right to free speech was being infringed because he wasn't allowed to talk about abortion. Last week a federal judge tossed his lawsuit:
A federal judge on Thursday rejected a lawsuit by a former Democratic congressman running for Georgia state Supreme Court who claimed a state agency was unconstitutionally trying to block him from talking about abortion.
U.S. District Judge Michael Brown ruled John Barrow didn't have standing to sue because Barrow himself chose to release a confidential letter from the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission and because his continued public statements show his speech isn't being restricted.
Justice Pinson should win this one but an upset would show the abortion issue making a difference from Barrow.
There are really no swing districts left in Georgia after redistricting but there are some primary challenges taking place in several districts.
- 3rd Cong. District: Republican Rep. Drew Ferguson is stepping down and five Republicans are competing for his seat.
- 2nd Cong. District: Democratic Rep. Sanford Bishop Jr. has no opposition in the primary but has four Republican challengers one of whom will be his opponent in November.
- 14th Cong. District: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has no GOP primary opponent but on the Democratic side there are four Democrats competing to take her on in the general election.
- 13th Cong. District: 78-year-old Democratic Rep. David Scott is seeking his 12th term in office. He is facing 6 Democratic primary opponents. Concerns have been raised about Scott's age. It will be interesting to see if those concerns resonate at all among Democrats.
Another primary race being watched is the one involving Fani Willis:
On this primary day, Fani Willis is running to keep her office at the Fulton County Courthouse, and Christian Wise Smith is running to take it over.
But many believe this election is really all about Willis.
On Monday, Wise Smith took to the campaign trail telling voters he wants to be the next district attorney of Fulton County and accused the current DA of malfeasance.
“We can’t keep turning a blind eye to what’s going on in that office. Chaos. Corruption. It’s time for us in Fulton County to stand up and take our justice system back,” Wise Smith said.
You can check the results with the widgets below:
Kentucky
The presidential primaries have long been decided at this point but voters in Kentucky have the option of voting "uncommitted" so we could see some protests votes against either Trump or Biden.
Also, in the state's 4th Cong. District Rep. Thomas Massie faces a primary challenge. Massie joined Rep. Greene in a failed attempt to remove Speaker Mike Johnson. Rep. Massie said yesterday he isn't concerned about blowback from voters in his red district.
“It’s a lot of inside baseball and ultimately, because he’s still the speaker, I think a lot of people don’t care,” Massie said in a recent interview.
Oregon
One of the closest elections in 2022 was Oregon's 5th Cong. District where Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer defeated her Democratic opponent by about 7,300 votes. There are two Democrats in the primary looking for a chance to take the seat from her this fall. Recently, some big Democratic groups poured a bunch of money into the race:
Two national Democratic political action committees have poured more than $1.1 million into the Democratic primary for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District Democratic in recent days, giving a last-minute boost to state Rep. Janelle Bynum (D-Happy Valley), who’s running against Terrebone engineer Jamie McLeod-Skinner. The winner will face incumbent U.S. Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-Ore.) in November.
This contest has also generated some news because of some mysterious ads supporting progressive McLeod-Skinner.
On Wednesday, ads began running on Portland TV stations praising 2022 nominee McLeod-Skinner for “fighting for Medicare for all” and “putting progressive values into action.” The super PAC that paid more than $460,000 to air the ads, Health Equity Now, registered with the Federal Election Commission on May 3 and won’t disclose its funders until after the election.
But Democrats, including McLeod-Skinner’s primary opponent, state Rep. Janelle Bynum, suspect the new group is tied to Republican operatives.
The claim is that Republicans are trying to prop up McLeod Skinner because she'll be an easier candidate for Chavez-DeRemer to beat in the general election.
In the 3rd Cong. District, four Democratic primary challengers are trying to take out Rep. Earl Blumenauer who is also a Democrat. One of those challengers is Susheela Jayapal, the older sister of Rep. Pramila Jayapal.
There is also a contest for Oregon Attorney General:
Michael Cross and Will Lathrop are competing in the Republican primary for the nomination for Oregon attorney general to replace Ellen Rosenblum, who announced in September that she would not seek a fourth term.
The winner of the primary will face the winner of the Democrat primary between former Oregon House Speaker Dan Rayfield and non-profit executive director Shaina Pomerantz in the November general election. Lathrop and Cross have hopes of being the state's first Republican attorney general since the 1980s.
Also on the ballot today is Multnomah County DA Mike Schmidt. Jazz wrote about this contest earlier today but suffice it to say the county would be better off picking Nathan Vasquez.
Idaho
In Idaho's 2nd Cong. District Republican Rep. Mike Simpson is being challenged by two other candidates in the GOP primary.
A pair of Republican challengers is hoping to unseat Idaho’s senior congressman in the upcoming May 21 primary election in Idaho’s 2nd Congressional District.
Scott Cleveland, R-Eagle, and Sean Higgins, R-Boise, are running against incumbent GOP U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson, who has served in Congress since 1999.
There may be some races we don't have widgets for so I'll try to do an update on a few things later tonight.
Update 5/22: The bad news. Fani Willis survived.
Willis defeated progressive attorney Christian Wise Smith in the primary election and is now set to face off against Republican Courtney Kramer in the fall. Willis told reporters after her victory that the voters sent a message that “people want a DA that is just, that treats everybody equally and that works hard, and they know that they have that in me.”
The good news. DA Mike Schmidt did not.
Longtime Multnomah County prosecutor Nathan Vasquez has a sizable lead in his attempt to unseat his boss, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt.
With potentially thousands of votes yet to be tallied, Vasquez led with 56% of the vote as of Wednesday morning.
