When you think of conservative commentator and Daily Wire editor emeritus Ben Shapiro, the first thing to come to mind probably isn’t rap music. It might not have been high on his priority list, particularly considering the fact that he only recently told Lex Fridman on a podcast that rap “was not really music.” So imagine my surprise when I went on YouTube yesterday to check in on my own personal favorite rapper, Tom MacDonald, only to find that he had dropped a new single called “Facts” featuring a duet with none other than Shapiro. But how would the world receive this unexpected pairing? We didn’t have to wait long to find out. The song quickly went screaming up the charts to take the number one position on iTunes, beating out many legendary musical artists along the way. As of this morning, the music video on YouTube had more than two and a half million views. (Daily Wire)

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro and rapper Tom MacDonald hit the #1 overall spot on the iTunes charts just hours after releasing their song “Facts” on Friday.

“Facts” climbed the iTunes charts quickly after its release as Shapiro and MacDonald also started trending on X. The song, which goes after the establishment and mainstream media “sacred cows,” also hit the #1 spot on the hip-hop/rap chart, passing up top artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and Eminem. Shapiro and MacDonald’s “Facts” is “quotable verbal crossfire,” according to a press release from MacDonald.

“We’re now #1 overall on iTunes, too,” Shapiro posted. “On the way, we knocked off, among others, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, and Taylor Swift.”

I’ve written about and featured the work of Tom MacDonald here in the past. His music covers a lot of ground, including love, loss, and addiction. You might even be tempted to think he’s something of a lefty. But when he veers into politics, he is most definitely conservative or at least libertarian. And he has absolutely no time for snowflakes or the easily bruised feelings of trendy leftists. That message shines through in “Facts.” (“Facts don’t care about your feelings.”) MacDonald is apparently a fan of Shapiro. In the chorus of the song, he included the phrase, “I ask myself what would Ben do.”

Shapiro really gets into the swing of things and does an impressive job rapping. This song is very reminiscent of one of MacDonald’s earlier works, Snowflakes. It’s very in-your-face, declaring that there are only two genders and reminding liberals that if they no longer feel safe it’s because they chose to defund the police. Both gentlemen have some less than gentle words for their online critics and every bit of it is hilarious. I’ve watched it multiple times and it doesn’t get old. In case you’re not familiar with Tom’s work, a couple of his other stinging hits along political lines include The System and Fake Woke.

So is this the start of a new career for Ben Shapiro? I’m guessing not. Right in the song, he says that he only did the project “for fun.” But he certainly seemed to be enjoying himself. Who knows? Perhaps we’ll see the two of them on tour together before long. So without further delay, I invite you to drive up their viewer count by checking out “Facts.” Rock on, boys. Er… I mean, rap on.
