Failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said that Vice President Kamala Harris would not face the same criticisms if she were a white man, adding that the expectations for the role are set for a white male.
The former Georgia candidate spoke to former press secretary Jen Psaki on the MSNBC program “Inside,” where she was lobbed a question specifically pertaining to race and gender.
“I want to ask you about the vice president, because she has been under a huge amount of scrutiny through her entire time in office,” Psaki began. “I think there’s a lot of reasons for this. But I want to ask you, as a prominent woman of color who’s run for office, do you think that she would be receiving the same critiques if she was a white man?”
“No,” Abrams bluntly replied.
