Blumenthal breaks leg when victory parade goer trips and lands on top of him

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal suffered a broken leg Saturday while attending the victory parade celebrating the UConn Huskies men’s basketball national championship in downtown Hartford.

Blumenthal, 77, is expected to undergo surgery on Sunday to help repair the fracture, according to Kathleen McWilliams, the senator’s communications director.
