Southwest Airlines did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Washington Post. It told the AP in a statement that it “takes pride in providing a welcoming, comfortable, and respectful environment” and that “behavior from any individual that is divisive or offensive is not condoned.”

Many users on social media, where the airline was trending on Sunday morning, threatened to boycott Southwest.
