Gingrich: Why is Bannon targeting Republicans when he could be going after Democrats?

Newt Gingrich doesn’t think Steve Bannon‘s plan to primary establishment Republicans is necessarily the best plan.

Earlier today, Gingrich told Laura Ingraham that Bannon’s plan would be “suicidally stupid.”

On Fox News tonight, he told Martha MacCallum that the issue here isn’t Republicans, it’s Democrats, pointing to a number of states where Trump won last year and Democratic senators are up for reelection.

“My whole career,” Gingrich continued, “has been spent focused on how do I elect more Republicans, not how do I cannibalize Republicans.”

And he warned that Bannon could be spending a lot of money on the wrong people.
