This Rick Santorum person certainly does have a grim view of America

Rick Santorum painted a grim picture of American life on Friday night, offering not a feel-good speech but a feel-bad speech.

He was talking to a small crowd here at a Knights of Columbus hall about his plans for his first 100 days in office, assuming he wins the Republican nomination for president and beats President Obama in the fall. In the course of laying out his remedies, he described a country that sounded plagued with ills.

It has a president who does not understand why it is great, he said. Mr. Obama has created a “hostile” environment for business, Mr. Santorum said, in part because of the president’s “ineptitude.”…

“Americans don’t like to be regulated,” he said. “They don’t like people being there and micromanaging everything they do.”
