Video: The ad Mitch McConnell should run in Kentucky

Yesterday AP wrote up the cringe-tastic verbal gymnastics performed by Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes in order to avoid admitting that she voted twice for Barack Obama — whose approval rating among Kentucky’s likely voters is upside-down by 24 points.  He was kind enough to include a thought I posted to Twitter after watching the video:

Her evasive rambling really could make for a devastating ad unto itself, it seemed to me; no bells and whistles necessary.  So without further ado, here’s what we came up with in the Townhall offices:

For what it’s worth, I’ve been told that Team McConnell has something along these lines in the pipeline. The two-pronged message an ad like this delivers is intuitively clear: As an Obama delegate and partisan Democrat of course she voted for Obama. Her refusal to simply say so is a telling commentary on her opinion of the electorate’s intelligence.  By ham-handedly trying to avoid a pro-Obama soundbyte, Grimes confirms that she’s pro-Obama and she appears painfully slippery in doing so.   Not a good look. I’ll leave you with a good point from Phil Kerpen, regarding Grimes’ defense of “the sanctity of the ballot box:”

(Special thanks to my Townhall colleague Ky Sisson for editing our imaginary ad).
