The only way to salvage one colossal government failure is to embark on another massive government adventure.  Obviously.  Fun how this works, isn’t it?

Rep. Jared Polis said Friday the key problem with health care right now is that illegal immigrants aren’t included in Obamacare, and said part of the solution is to pass a bill granting them citizenship rights. The House is debating a GOP-written bill that would allow Americans to keep their health plans that have been canceled under Obamacare, but Mr. Polis, a Colorado Democrat, said the chamber should instead be looking at ways to make sure everyone in the country is covered by the Affordable Care Act — including illegal immigrants.

The Obama administration has done such an exceptional job of implementing and administering Obamacare (which they had huge political incentives not to screw up) that the American people really ought to trust Team O to devise and execute an effective immigration overhaul, too.  I’m sure they’d skillfully and faithfully enforce various border security measures, even if the president and his partisan allies find them politically unpalatable…right?  It’s. The. Law., and all that.  And surely they would never dream of repeatedly lying to our faces about how their proposal would, or would not, work.  They’d marshal all the necessary votes in a transparent and honorable manner.  This White House exudes competence and credibility;  forward to the next big thing!  And if by some strange coincidence that next big thing were to crash, burn, and betray the promises upon which it was sold, the resulting blow would at least be softened by Obama’s inevitable surprise and frustration. He knows everything, and yet he knows nothing at all.  I’ve made little secret of my support for some form of comprehensive immigration reform, but accomplishing that policy end requires trust, good will and follow-through.  President Obama is deeply deficient on all counts.  As I suggested back in July, the Obamacare trainwreck may have also flattened immigration reform — at least for the foreseeable future.  And for that, our president has no one to blame but himself.  Not that he will, of course.  One final note: The Democrat who floated this hilarious amnesty-for-Obamacare scheme is the same winner who sought an Obamacare waiver for his affluent district:

One of President Obama’s most ardent liberal supporters has defected from Obamacare. Rep. Jared Polis, D-Boulder, told a Colorado health policy think tank that Obamacare premiums will be too expensive for some of the wealthiest addresses in America – ski resorts like Breckenridge and Keystone. … “We will be encouraging a waiver,” Polis told Health Policy Solutions in a story that ran today. “It will be difficult for Summit County residents to become insured. For the vast majority, it’s too high a price to pay.”

Now seems like as good a time as any to re-up this clip of a Colorado Obamacare ‘navigator,’ who agrees with his assessment:

“Thus far, everybody has taken a look at the rates and they’ve walked out the door. There’s sticker shock. They just can’t afford it.”

Polis’ out-of-the-box solution to the “Affordable” Care Act’s soaring individual and national costs?  Expand Obamacare even further to cover people who are here illegally.  More government.  Say what you will about Democrats, they certainly are creative and unpredictable.  Please draft this bill, guys.  Let’s have a vote.
