Everybody's closing tabbies for the weekend ...
She wasn’t even the most qualified presidential nominee of my lifetime. George HW Bush was a WW2 pilot who founded an oil company, served in Congress, led the CIA, and was VP for 8 years before getting the nomination in 1988. https://t.co/NURHvNHann

Ed: Kamala Harris wasn't the most *unqualified* candidate for the presidency. She'd been VP, Senator, and a state AG. Harris was easily the least politically accomplished candidate in recent memory, however, and very obviously the least equipped to campaign and to handle the job.
===
Harris also suggested she's been having conversations about her next political steps, as California prepares to elect its next governor in 2026 and Democrats search for a presidential candidate to run in 2028.
"Everybody is asking me, 'Well, what've you been thinking about these days,'" she said, smiling as the Democratic crowd responded warmly.
Sources familiar with Harris' thinking say she's weighing a gubernatorial bid in her home state, a third run for the presidency or not seeking elected office.
Ed: Good of CBS News to narrow this down to, er ... pretty much every option Harris reasonably has. She won't return to the Senate because Democrats already have both California seats, and she won't run for AG. She has those three options and that's it. And the only option with any real chance of success is the third.

The most qualified people include Eisenhower, Bush, Grant, FDR and Herbert Hoover—a list that suggests “qualifications” don’t guarantee results. But at any rate, that list does not, by any metric, include Kamala Harris, whose qualifications for running the world’s largest… https://t.co/uQWABnC2NI

Ed: This speaks much more to Tim Walz' qualifications than it does Harris'. He's an idiot.

But the true highlight of Kamala’s speech came when she dug into her familiar wine-mom technique. Then the memories really came flooding back — to the public, if not to her.
Flailing around with her hands and laughing before she had even said anything funny, she invoked the behavior of animals in the zoo. Quite literally. ...
“So that scene has been on my mind,” she continued, laughing hysterically. “Think about it,” she invited the audience, still nodding wisely. As though thinking is something no one would do unless Kamala Harris invited them to.
“What a powerful metaphor,” she continued, inviting the audience to marvel anew.
Ed: Harris has spent her life in certitude that every syllable that exits her mouth is profound and deeply moving in some way. And she has spent an equal amount of time trapped in sheer cluelessness about her lack of profundity, wit, or even coherence.

The original video has received more than 661,000 likes on TikTok as of Friday, May 2, and the clip has been re-circulated by a variety of other accounts on X, Instagram and TikTok. ...
Others, however, weren’t as charmed by Harris’ dance moves.
“What a joke” wrote @samsonoptionvivi, while @kpetoney expressed gratitude that Harris didn’t win the election, noting that “Foreign leaders would eat her alive.”
Ed: Again. Or still.

Tim Walz thinks Kamala Harris was the “most qualified person who’d run for president in the country’s history” which is absolutely the funniest thing he’s ever said and that’s a high bar to clear considering how hard he tried to “code talk to white guys” https://t.co/kI2cvPR4py
— Ian Miller (@ianmSC) May 2, 2025
Ed: It's not that he said it. It's that he apparently BELIEVES it. That's what makes this absolutely hilarious.

The author of the Declaration. The primary architect of the Constitution. The Supreme Commander of Allies Forces in World War II. And Tim Walz thinks Kamala Harris was... the most qualified presidential candidate in history? What does he think her biggest achievement is? https://t.co/n6jEVRG5FU
— Conor Friedersdorf (@conor64) May 2, 2025
Ed: And if she had some achievements, then why didn't she campaign on them? Why didn't Walz talk about her myriad achievements and prodigious qualifications? The two of them avoided the media like Dracula avoided sunlight. And how would those qualifications stack up against an opponent who had already done the job for one term, anyway?
===
Yet authenticity is about the last thing that came to mind watching Walz’s ham-fisted manly media stunts in 2024, not during his cringey Madden video game contest with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or his hunting outing where he struggled with a shotgun.
Never mind that the notion of “white guys” being transfixed by a candidate simply because he also watches football is awfully insulting. Just because a couple of white guys talk about trucks doesn’t mean they agree on foreign policy.
Now, we might have a propensity to read too much into things politicians say, but I think Walz’s white-guy code comment also speaks to one of the big problems hampering Democrats: They have an unnatural obsession with identitarianism.
Ed: David Harsanyi nails it. This is EXACTLY what Democrats mean by "most qualified presidential nominee in history": Harris is female and black. Walz was brought on board to "code talk" to voters so that those two selling points would matter.

I voted for Kamala Harris without hesitation because of her one essential qualification: she isn't Donald Trump.
— Jared Walczak (@JaredWalczak) May 1, 2025
But the idea that she was the most qualified presidential nominee in history? Come on. This obliviousness is how you keep losing to Trump and his ilk. https://t.co/J89q9deDXL
Ed: Indeed. What is even meant by "most qualified presidential nominee in history," anyway? If that were the case, why didn't Democrats nominate her in 2020 rather than Joe Biden?
===
Can anyone explain how Kamala Harris was somehow more qualified to be president than a guy who was previously president? https://t.co/mc3lTlab8h

“This is the key nugget here,” Enten said. “It’s not just about regretting the vote. It’s literally saying, who would be doing the better job right now, and Trump continues to score a higher percentage of the vote than Kamala Harris. This looks a heckuva lot like the election results.
“We have seen this in poll after poll after poll,” he added. “Despite the fact that Trump’s favorable ratings aren’t too to trot, when he’s matched up against who he was matched up in 2024, he scores a higher percentage than Kamala Harris does.”
Enten then look at polling that asked who was trusted more on the country’s main problems. Trump won there, too, with 40% choosing him as opposed to just 32% choosing Democrats.
Ed: Bring on the code talkers!!
