We can’t let the week go without adding this to the OOTD canon:

Yes, it’s an ad-libbed response, but cheers of “We love you!” aren’t exactly unknown at Obama rallies. And it seems as though Obama was waiting for just this kind of outburst to tell the crowd, “I love you. But if you love me, you’ve got to help me pass this bill!” That’s a pretty lame argument for drumming up support for a public policy of any kind — or for that matter, any other kind of request. Anyone who has been in a bad relationship will have heard at least once, “If you love me, you’ll –” The request that follows is not only usually unpleasant, it’s almost always a bad idea.

Lots of people are in a bad relationship with Obama these days. Some of them just don’t quite realize it. Jim Treacher wonders if Obama isn’t one of those, too, saying “Wow. And to think, some people actually call this guy a malignant narcissist.”
