Jim Martin has never met a tax he didn’t like — and didn’t like to increase. Yesterday, the NRSC pointed out Martin’s support for increasing income taxes on people earning less than $75,000. Today, in Jim Martin Fact #17, they note his efforts to increase property-tax assessments as well:
Meanwhile, Jim Martin has a new ad out, too. He wants Georgians to know that he’s going to be Barack Obama’s rubber stamp:
Even Martin supporter Tommy Christopher is unimpressed:
Is it me, or is this vaguely reminiscent of that Brady Bunch episode where Marcia impulsively claims to be friends with Davy Jones in order to impress her friends?
This ad plays into Chambliss’ point. Georgia will lose any independent voice it has if it sends Jim Martin to be Barack Obama’s rubber stamp. He’ll enable all of the worst excesses of Democratic extremism. In fact, in listening to Martin’s pitch, it seems clear that Martin himself has no ideas of his own, and is running as nothing more than an Obama toady.
Voters can only look to Georgia’s run-off election to stop the Senate from becoming Barack Obama’s rubber stamp. Jim Martin is, if anything, further to Obama’s left, especially on taxes. Find out more about Martin’s record here, and if you want to preserve any hope of a Republican filibuster, contribute to Saxby Chambliss here or at the NRSC.
I’ll be interviewing Saxby Chambliss today on The Ed Morrissey Show, and we’ll talk about what’s at stake for Georgia and the nation in the runoff election. Tune in at 3 pm ET right here at Hot Air!
