Will Somali Gang Violence in Minnesota Shape Statewide Races?

Democrats have a Somali problem, and it's unlikely to go away any time soon.

For years, the Somali community and the Democrats have been joined at the hip, and the Democrats have made no secret of the fact that they are willing to go to the mat to defend Somalis come hell or high water. We keep hearing that Somalis built the state, are our "neighbors," the 'fabric of Minnesota," and the most prominent Somali politician in the country is Ilhan Omar, who is so unabashedly Somali that she actively campaigns as Somali first, Minnesota second.

It's been a very effective electoral strategy in the Twin Cities, obviously, as Somalis start winning elections around the region. There are currently six Somalis elected at the state and federal government level, and at least nine in local government positions. In practical terms, that means that Somalis are substantially overrepresented in government compared to their share of the population, and all the representatives are associated with the Democrats.

Somalis are also much more heavily represented in fraud, corruption, and crime compared to their share of the population. The Medicaid and Feeding Our Future fraud schemes were Somali-led, and a spate of gang shootings sweeping the region are driven by Somali gang wars.

Just the other day there was a Somali gang shooting at my own church, and this weekend there was a gang-related shooting at a suburban homecoming game, where you wouldn't expect to see any Somalis at all, and certainly not gangs hanging out.

Shortly before 9 p.m., a shooting happened outside the stadium as thousands of spectators watched Eden Prairie take on Minnetonka. Two people were hurt and taken to the hospital, and Eden Prairie police confirmed that neither of them is a student.

Police say that the victims are boys aged 18 and 17 from St. Paul. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries, with the 18-year-old being released from the hospital Saturday, and the other continuing to be hospitalized.

According to authorities, an altercation broke out before the shooting on the west side of Aerie Stadium. Officers broke up the altercation, and removed multiple people from the area. Shortly after that, the shooting happened in the high school parking lot.

A FOX 9 source confirmed the shooting involved Somali gangs. Police said they are searching for at least one getaway car, though Chief Matt Sackett said they do not yet have a confirmed make or model.

Eden Prairie is a wealthy suburb, not an inner-city area like "Little Mogadishu" in Minneapolis. Not only was the Homecoming game ruined, but the dance afterward had to be canceled as well.

Local law enforcement has been forced to beg for help from local imams, and the Ramsey County Sheriff, whose beat is the Saint Paul area, has made it clear that these are not isolated incidents. He has identified hundreds of gang members involved in over 100 shooting, many of which don't make the news.

"There is never a good time to have a hard conversation. That's the problem. But the longer we go by not having this conversation, the more people are going to die," said Fletcher.

The sheriff’s office says there are 12 Somali gangs involving about 300 young people, and investigators believe these groups are responsible for 14 murders and more than 100 shootings over the last couple of years. Many of these crimes involve automatic weapons and are fueled by bragging rights on social media.

Sheriff Fletcher said the goal of the meeting was to educate Somali parents about the scope of the issue and encourage them to work with law enforcement.

"One of the biggest issues in the Somali community is some parents are unaware of where their kids are at. Their kids are out in the middle of the night. They don't know where their kids are at. That's why we are having the meeting today to let the community know and have the parents on our side, because we need solid community policing if we want to solve this problem and parents can play a big part in this," said Jama Shine, Ramsey County Sheriff's Office investigator.

Fraud, gang violence, and most importantly, the fact that the second generation is much more involved in the violence than their immigrant parents, who drive the fraud, all point to a societal problem, but also a political one for the Democrats.

Everywhere you look these days, you see another Somali-related scandal, and without fail they are tied to Democrats in one way or another. It's gotten to the point that it's difficult to be a Twin Cities politician without knowing at least some Somali.

They have had to spend a lot of time making excuses for and defending the indefensible patterns that everybody can see, and really can't afford to separate themselves from them. They are now a key part of their Twin Cities political machine; perhaps THE key part of it. And the Twin Cities machine is what gives them power in statewide elections, providing the margin of victory in a state that is actually tilting rightward outside the Twin Cities.

It is trivially true that most Somalis don't commit crimes, just as it is obviously true that Somalis are as a group far more likely to be clannish, be involved in massive government fraud schemes, be on welfare, and be in gangs that commit violent acts.

People are noticing, and that's one of several reasons why Democrats have a problem they never expected to have, especially in a political season that should make winning a cakewalk for them. No Republican has won a statewide office in decades, but if the polls are correct, the senate seat is in play.

Peggy Flanagan was Tim Walz's lieutenant governor and is no doubt being hurt by the fraud scandals, and all those photos and videos of her with Somalis are not helping her win converts.

Each gang shooting and each fraud conviction is a drip in the drip drip drip. I would argue that in a less favorable environment, she would likely lose.

Now, it's a toss up, which really should shock you.

Editor's Note: The Democrat Party has been infected by socialism, and it's spreading FAST. Democrats are claiming there's nothing to worry about, but we know the truth.
