Grok and I have been going back and forth a bit on what is exactly going on in France. Grok keeps telling me that the current riots are mostly a French thing, meaning that the French love to riot when they are unhappy, and that the fact that most of the videos show Muslims committing violence is a coincidence.
What is not in dispute is that, once again, there is mass political violence, and people in France are doing what they love to do: destroy things every few years, as if it is a tradition going back to 1789.

Nationwide protests and school blockades have led to mayhem, with 440 students detained yesterday.
Education Minister Édouard Geffray said at least 10 school employees were hurt and that the Education Ministry had counted 31 injured students and staff in all.
Among the cases he cited were a teacher beaten in northern France, a principal struck by a firework mortar in Hauts-de-Seine, west of Paris, and another principal in Essonne who received a death threat.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez told BFMTV that about two-thirds of those detained were placed in police custody, mainly on suspicion of property damage or assaulting officers.
48 members of law enforcement were injured, he said. "Violence is never legitimate. There is nothing that justifies violence," Nuñez added.
On Thursday, another round blockades could be coming.
The current outrage is apparently about the sorry state of education and schools in France. Welcome to the club, France; this is the modern West, where schools no longer teach.
I won't get into whether the complaints are legitimate, aside from noting that France spends pretty much the same on education as most OECD countries, and, like the rest of them, the results keep getting worse. Grok gave me the rundown of the complaints, which seem no worse than your typical city schools, and the people rioting also happen to be the ones you would expect to riot.
They are concentrated exactly where you would expect, except that in France it is the suburbs, not the inner cities, where the dispossessed live. In the US, the donut hole is the s**thole for most cities, and the donut is tasty. In most European cities, the reverse is true.

Now rioting seems to be something of a French sport, but the players, as in soccer, are becoming more "diverse" than in years past. The grievances are different, with "racism" at the top of the list, and there seems to be a lot more fire and a lot more accommodation from the politicians than in years past.

Particularly from the leaders of the Muslim population, who are not trying to calm the rioters down, but get them ginned up.
Of course, that's what my leaders did during the ICE riots, and most of them were white liberals, so there is that. The modern Left in America has Europeanized and Islamized, looking to the French, rather than the American model, as the ideal. My governor, my Lieutenant Governor, and the city leaders here were all cheering on the 2020 riots and the 2025 ICE riots, so maybe I shouldn't be pointing my finger at France, however tempting.

It's so depressing to watch the chaos spread. I can't decide whether to look on with contempt because this is what French people do, or look on in worry, knowing that it won't be the national sport when Muslims become the majority, but a default behavior that will be less concentrated in certain zones.
In the UK, you are beginning to see signs of vigilantism in response to growing chaos, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it in France, too. On the one hand, what else are people supposed to do? On the other hand, vigilantism leads nowhere good.
I need a vacation from reality.
