At some level, I understand why liberals are crying their eyes out at some of Trump's moves.
No, I am not just referring to the obvious fact that by defunding academia and nonprofits, he is depriving them of their financial lifeblood. That is too obvious. Nobody wants to be kicked off their gravy train.
But there are policies and budget cuts that are, on the surface, harder to explain to center-left types who believe in good government (in the abstract) and think that Trump should just be separating the wheat from the chaff, not swinging around an axe and a sledgehammer when making policy.
Two policy areas stand out here: immigration raids that aren't focused solely on violent criminals, and the massive cuts to scientific research and academia in general.
Many liberals don't get why Trump is moving so far and so fast. Couldn't be a bit more discriminating? To them, the immigration dragnet looks cruel, and the cuts look counterproductive.
In an ideal world where illegal immigration was not an existential threat to America and where scientific research wasn't corrupted by DEI, poor science, and politicized to the extent that it is, I might be persuaded. If a scalpel can do the job, use it.
This is where FAFO comes in.
Before Joe Biden became president, illegal immigration was a very serious problem; Joe Biden made it an existential threat that has to be addressed right here, right now, and with little mercy. We are long past the point where we can dawdle, and to make things worse, the entire Democratic Party establishment is fighting to keep every sex offender, gang member, and human trafficker in the country. And, perhaps, to give them a sex change operation if they want it.
Blunt instruments are the only ones that will address the problem. Illegal immigration is the Stage Four cancer of our country, and radical surgery is the only solution. You may not like having to watch the surgery, but President Trump didn't let the problem metastasize: liberals did. Don't complain about the treatment after you let the problem become so dire.
In other words, if you voted for Joe Biden, you voted to make Republicans take the harsh moves that are necessary now. FAFO. This is just the "find out" stage. Don't blame us.
Yes. Look at how much DEI has been injected into fields like geosciences or mathematics. https://t.co/Sj9dJkRQPP pic.twitter.com/FQIc0nu43G

How about "scientific research" funding? We all love science, and benefit greatly when it is done well. But when you hear that Trump is cutting funding for "cancer" research, you are being told what amounts to a lie. The grants getting cut all, for the most part, are focused on DEI-related crap or "overhead" charges that universities extract out of the federal government--none of which goes to actual research, but to administrative expenses.
JUST IN: Woman has meltdown because Trump shut down her job where she studied "how to safely collect s*xual orientation and gender identity" practices.

Lmao. You literally can't tell what's a parody anymore.

Money flowing to academia is slowing, and that, too, is necessary. Academia is filled with bloat, civil rights violations, and administrations filled with worse-than-useless bureaucrats. The schools are propaganda mills and reeducation camps that pump out anti-American activists, and their primary function--they will often tell you this--is to bring down the United States of America and Western "colonialist" culture.
This isn't your grandfather's academia, and we shouldn't pay a dime to keep it going. It, too, is an existential threat to the country.
27% of all National Science Foundation grants awarded last year went to DEI, according to an analysis by @tedcruz. The database is searchable at the below link.

These are science grants to activists who say the scientific method, the written word, and peer review are racist. pic.twitter.com/DFPFbZY9Lq
Biological research is filled with alphabet insanity, and medical schools are turning themselves into Critical Race Theory factories. Professors will get up and declare that sex is a social construct and that infants in the womb know they are transgender.
Americans look at all this and say, FAFO. It isn't OUR fault that academia is as socially useful as the bar in Mos Eisley..@sciam is on drugs again. https://t.co/wrrtLcdOkJ

Academia destroyed itself first, and only after Americans got sick of pouring trillions of dollars into this pit has the Trump administration come in and started to clean up the mess.
FAFO.
The problem isn't that Trump is using blunt tools to address crises. The problem is that the crises exist, and liberals created them. Bitching about what has to be done to solve the crises is just noise that should be ignored.
I wish it weren't so, but sometimes you have to amputate the limb to save the patient. It's blunt, it's ugly, and it is necessary. Nobody should blame the doctor.
Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
