The Pravda Media has a midwit problem. That's not to say that everybody in the corporate media is a midwit; some of them are downright stupid, and a few may even be smart.
However, the anchors and the "talent" being asked to go after Trump administration officials are, on the whole, neither impressively intelligent nor exceptionally knowledgable. They have been provided or thought up what they intend to be "gotcha" questions to trip up people like J.D. Vance and Stephen Miller, and are floored when they wind up looking like idiots.
The latest victim was Jake Tapper, who was murdered on live TV last night by Miller.

I give you White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller vs. Jake Tapper on CNN.
Tapper said we need illegals here to pick our crops.
Then, Fatality…

Tapper is trotting out the latest Democrat talking point that Trump is increasing food prices because only an open border and millions of illegal aliens streaming into the country stand between us and utter destitution and starvation.
He clearly thinks this is a killer argument. After all, all the best Democrats keep repeating it, and Tapper is long out of the habit of thinking beyond the surface talking points.
Miller wipes the floor with him, and not just rhetorically. Good debaters can wipe the floor with a bad one, even when wrong, winning on points alone.
Absolutely brilliant response here by Miller.

Leaves Tapper with nothing to say.

But that isn't what happened here. Miller won on points and on substance because, unlike Tapper, he knows what he is talking about. America doesn't need illegal aliens to grow our food and pick our crops--we have a guest worker program--and almost none of the illegal aliens living in America work in agriculture.
Tapper clearly didn't know either of those facts and doggedly tried to keep going with a clearly ridiculous argument. It is painful to watch if you have any sympathy for Tapper. (Hint: I don't).
Tapper didn't tap out, unfortunately for him, and actually tried to make Miller look bad on another topic: federal workers, who everybody knows and can prove are overwhelmingly left-leaning and hostile to Trump. Tapper pretends ignorance about this fact and likely thinks that their being left-wing and hostile to Trump is perfectly normal and any #resistance they put up against Trump is a good thing.
Stephen’s Miller says the overwhelming majority of federal workers supported for Kamala.

Tapper: you’re “demonizing” them.
Miller bursts out laughing.

OMG, that is funny. If this were a cartoon, smoke would be coming out of Tapper's ears, and his face would be beet red.
The irony, of course, is that Tapper could have come out just fine and not looked like an idiot if he didn't strike an adversarial pose and did what used to be called "journalism." If he had spent his time focused on getting the administration's thinking to the American people instead of trying to push Democrat talking points, he would have done us a service and done what was supposed to be his job.
That wouldn't require him to become a propagandist for the Trump administration. He could then get the other side of the argument or, best of all, try to bring a Democrat and a Republican together to debate the issues. Tapper is, as most "journalists" are these days, pushing the Democrat line and aren't very good at it.
Worse, they are lazy about it. They don't know what they are talking about, so they are easily tripped up by somebody who does.

The problem with midwits isn't that they aren't particularly smart. Generally speaking, they are smart enough to do a good job in many cases. Tapper certainly could be good if he stuck to the job of reporting. The problem is when they get out in front of their skis and try to steer the debate--they aren't smart enough to do that, and their opinions are so shallow that they don't bear scrutiny.
This time around, the Trump administration is filled with stars who can run circles around the Democrats and Pravda Media opponents, who have been able to wallow in a sea of pathetic talking points without getting challenged. Talking points no longer work. Crying Abuelitas are no longer a sufficient shield from having to justify the unjustifiable. Pictures of AOC crying outside a parking lot are a joke now.
And yet the midwits have nothing else. So they look increasingly stupid. Scott Jennings is making a career of running circles around the midwits he is put up against.
Scott Jennings explains that immigration laws are, in fact, laws to be enforced.
