Well, the obvious hoax being put out by The Atlantic is apparently the final campaign pitch from the Democrats.
After a day of disappointment in the news coverage about the story, Harris has decided to kick it up a notch and make a speech from the Vice President's official residence at the Naval Observatory.
Standing behind the official Seal of the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris warned the country in dark tones that Donald Trump is HITLERSTALINMUSSOLINI, which is sure to work.
It's never been tried before. Not once have the Democrats called Donald Trump Hitler, or worse than Hitler. They want to keep the rhetoric toned down, right?

I don't think that anybody is going to be making a stink about Harris' likely violation of the Hatch Act, which prohibits using government resources to help a campaign. We are far past the point where anybody cares about that. After all, the Harris campaign and the Democrats are almost certainly violating campaign finance laws through ActBlue, and the media is helping them cover that up, too.

For anybody who doesn't know, The Atlantic is owned by Democrat megadonor Laurene Powell Jobs, and Jeffrey Goldberg is the originator of the "suckers and losers" hoax that only deranged people believe. The whole meme that Trump hates the military or will use it to go after his opponents is ridiculous on its face, but the Democrats have been pushing it for years.

This is the "October Surprise," and I doubt anybody but the already Trump-deranged do much but shrug. Many don't like him. But nobody actually believes he will do anything they say because they aren't running scared. They attack him more viciously every day, and Trump just shakes his head. And Gold Star families just keep lining up behind him.

This does, perhaps, clear up one mystery: why Harris is off the trail today and perhaps yesterday as well: they were preparing to make this desperate push. It is their last play. They know Harris is dead in the water and sinking.
So, they are taking another shot at Donald Trump. Let's hope it is only metaphorical, but who can say?
