The United States has been defending Europe in one way or another since 1917. We kicked the Nazis in the butt, held off the Soviet Union, have stationed troops on the continent for 3/4 of a century, and have spent trillions over the years making and keeping them free.
In return, the United Kingdom and the European Union are threatening to strip Americans of our most basic Constitutional rights.
Screw them.
Both the UK and Australia--another ally and a member of the very exclusive "5 eyes" intelligence sharing collective--have mused about jailing American citizen Elon Musk for allowing free speech on Twitter/X. The European Union, which is close as anything to being the political arm of the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance, actually threatened Twitter/X for allowing Elon Musk to have a conversation with Donald Trump and invite him back onto his platform.
They are literally trying to suppress the political speech of the former and possibly future President of the United States. They are trying to strip every American of the most basic right we have enshrined in the First Amendment.
Screw them. That is, as I said earlier today, a casus belli--essentially a declaration of war against American citizens.
Of course, the Biden regime is not only happy with this but probably involved in all of it. They have been at war with US citizens' most basic free speech rights for years and have been using lawfare against both Trump and Elon Musk for years. They are, in a very real sense, traitors to the Constitution, violating their Oath of Office and trying to steal an election.
But there is only one way to deal with that, and that is to work our asses off to vote the Democrats out of office. That is the legal tool we have and the one we should use this November 5th, when the country decides whether it wants to be populated by slaves or remain free.
Europe, though, is a place over which the US has real leverage, and if Donald Trump does win in November, he should use every tool at his disposal to force Europe to back down, including threatening to leave NATO and, as a consequence, leave Europe to deal with its enemies without the US shield.
I would much rather that not happen, of course. But Europe has declared war against Americans' most basic rights and using the leverage they have--which is considerable--to shut us all up and deny us access to basic political information.
Screw them. If they want to become tyrants over Americans, they should remember we became a country by tossing out an earlier group of tyrants.
Screw them.
They are trying to screw us, and if leaving NATO is the leverage we need to use in order to get their attention, then I am all for it.
UPDATE: Breton took it on the chin for this, and his bosses were displeased, probably for the reasons outlined above:
Brussels slaps down Thierry Breton over ‘harmful content’ letter to Elon Musk. Internal market commissioner’s warning to owner of social media site X was not approved. #Velsig #geopolitics https://t.co/1hH7KG3EuC

Brussels has accused its internal market commissioner of going rogue by sending a letter to Elon Musk threatening punishment if content posted on social media site X was found to place EU citizens at risk of “serious harm”.Thierry Breton, the French commissioner, had posted the warning letter on X, the platform owned by Musk, hours before the billionaire interviewed US presidential candidate Donald Trump, also on X.On Tuesday the European Commission denied that Breton had approval from its president Ursula von der Leyen to send the letter.“The timing and the wording of the letter were neither co-ordinated or agreed with the president nor with the [commissioners],” it said.An EU official, who asked not to be named, said: “Thierry has his own mind and way of working and thinking.”
