Now Biden Is Withholding Precision Weapons From Israel

It's not just aid that Biden is withholding from Israel, but specific precision weapons that among other things reduce civilian casualties.

It's an escalation in Biden's war on Israel's mission to eliminate Hamas, presumably to satisfy his pro-Hamas base.

Biden is trying to walk a tightrope--satisfying his conventional elite base who are becoming more and more appalled at what is happening on campuses and the explosion of antisemitism, while trying to mollify the students who make up a good chunk of the Democrat ground troops.

It's a pathetic attempt, but there it is. Biden needs both camps to win this November, and he is willing to sacrifice Israelis in the process.

The Biden administration is holding up shipments of two types of Boeing-made precision bombs to send a political message to Israel, according to a U.S. official and six other people with knowledge of the deliberations.

The U.S. has yet to sign off on a pending sale of Boeing’s Joint Direct Attack Munitions — both the munitions and kits that convert them to smart weapons — and Small Diameter Bombs, according to six industry and congressional sources with knowledge of the discussions.

While the Biden administration has not formally denied the potential sale, it is essentially taking action through inaction — holding off on approvals and other aspects of the weapons transfer process — to send a message to Israel, a U.S. administration official familiar with the process told POLITICO. The official, along with others, was granted anonymity to discuss sensitive internal deliberations.

This appears to be the first time the U.S. administration has delayed a potential weapons sale for Israel since Hamas attacked the country on Oct. 7. President Joe Biden has been under pressure from some in his party to set conditions on aid to Israel after the Israeli bombing campaign in Gaza began to exact a heavy toll on civilians, and after Israel hit humanitarian convoys delivering aid to the enclave.

To put that last bit in context, one of Biden's final acts in his shameful exit from Afghanistan was to target an aid worker, killing him and his children. Not a single person was punished for that, while Israel relieved the military officials who mistakenly targeted the aid workers.

Also, not mentioned was the fact that Hamas is shelling relief workers and the US troops building a pier to bring in relief aid. Biden is rewarding Hamas for those actions, which I suppose is very on-brand for the man who ships cash to Iran.

The munitions were ready to be shipped to Israel when word of the hold came down, said one senior congressional aide and two other people familiar with the incident. A third person, an industry official, said the administration told Boeing to halt the shipment since the approval was held up for “political reasons,” and not because of supply chain strain.

Another congressional aide said the case — categorized as a direct commercial sale between Israel and the contractor that requires sign-off from the administration — is being “held up.”

Hamas is offering to ship the corpses of hostages they killed in exchange for a cessation of the war, and this atrocity is being sold to us as a cease-fire proposal.

All this is happening while Biden is mouthing, not meaning, "never again."

Israel has begun its Rafah operation, which should have been wrapped up by now but for all the pressure put on Israel. Extending the war puts both civilians in Gaza and Israeli troops at risk, as it gave Hamas more time to dig in and terrorize civilians. Civilians they have been killing to steal the aid being shipped in.

Biden is undoubtedly not so much pro-Hamas as profoundly venal and stupid. As Bob Gates famously said, Joe Biden has not once in his career been right on a foreign policy issue.

He is still batting a thousand.
