Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

With Iowa set to caucus in eight days, you’d expect the Sunday shows to be brimming with Republican candidates who are in play there — Trump, Cruz, Rubio, plus evangelical favorites like Huckabee and Santorum. As it is, the GOPer with the most appearances this morning is … Jeb Bush, who’ll be on “This Week” and “State of the Union” to argue that his dear friend Marco Rubio is actually the devil and to preview any new endorsements he’s expecting this week from blood relatives. The other top draw this a.m. is Bernie Sanders, who’ll be on “This Week,” “Meet the Press,” and “Face the Nation” to crow about his stunning leads over Hillary in Iowa and New Hampshire and to receive the thanks of aging media liberals for giving them a political erection with that Simon and Garfunkel ad.

Trump will also be on “Face the Nation” today, along with any other cable news show he feels like being on at a moment’s whim. Your best bet is probably “Fox News Sunday,” which will feature Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. Expect Cruz to field questions about the barrage of anti-endorsements he received this week and to accuse Trump once again of being a complete tool of the establishment. Then expect Rubio to defend Trump, kinda sorta, from that charge. The full line-up is at the AP.
