Video: Audience members yell at each other during GOP townhall on Ryan's budget

A scene from the entitlements war via Glenn Thrush; the hapless congressman presiding over the screaming is Dan Webster, a.k.a. the man who sent Alan Grayson into retirement. (Or did he?) Supposedly Democrats are waiting for August, when the Ryan budget is front and center on the national agenda, to make a media spectacle of congressional townhalls the way conservatives did with ObamaCare two years ago. But as always, there are early adopters. A choice quote from the Sentinel’s story on Webster’s powwow:

Webster tried to go over a series of charts showing growing levels of federal spending and debt, and the reason he supports the federal budget plan put forward by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis. But he was interrupted at every turn by shouts from his critics, including members of progressive groups such as Moveon.org and Organize Now

Two Orlando police officers moved to the front of the room and flanked Webster, and pleaded for decorum when the congressman could no longer be heard.

“It’s not going to be solved by yelling and screaming and hollering,” the officer said. “Let’s conduct ourselves like grown people.”

How do they know there were people there from MoveOn? I expect Democrats to astroturf these crowds with progressive groups and union members — they’ve done it before, after all, while luminaries like Pelosi and Reid falsely accused conservatives of the same tactic — but they’d have to be awfully stupid to wear t-shirts or other paraphernalia identifying them as ‘turfers. How’d the Sentinel figure it out? Did the attendees actually admit to reporters afterwards that they were there to express America’s alleged grassroots rage as part of a MoveOn group? Smart.

Stick with it, as there’s plenty of pushback.
