I hope this is his final spot of the campaign, not only because of the revealing contrast it makes with Rubio’s far more inspirational “closing argument” but because it’s poetic in capturing Crist’s essential shamelessness. In case you’ve forgotten, he had nothing but good things to say about Palin two years ago, back when he thought he’d waltz to the Senate seat as the anointed GOP nominee. If you have forgotten, no worries: Take a stroll down memory lane with some of the clips below. Or just watch this old Kendrick Meek ad, which showcases a Crist soundbite about Palin back when he was a, er, “Republican.” The fact that he’d mention Palin in the spot instead of limiting his attack to Rubio proves two things: (a) Rubio’s now so widely liked by voters that Crist’s only chance to hurt him is to tar him with his association to more polarizing pols, and (b) not even the absolute certainty of knowing that his own prior kind words about Palin would be revisited after this ad hit the air was enough to shame Crist into not running it. I really can’t wait to see what his next move is after the election; presumably he’ll become a Democrat officially and go from there. Bill Nelson is only 68, though, which is practically kindergarten age for the Senate, so I assume he’s running again for Senate in 2012. But if not, how does a Crist/LeMieux death match sound to you?
It's come to this: Crist calls Palin and Rubio "extremists" in new ad
