Video: The time has come to teabag the Democrats

Alternate headline via my lefty pal Michael Roston: “Tea Partiers finally admit they wanna dip their balls in it.” The clip comes from conservative filmmaker David Nussbaum, who was responsible for last year’s spoof of that obnoxious Funny or Die paean to ObamaCare. (I’m reliably informed that the dental patient is the heroine of this viral classic of the rightosphere.) It seems we may have finally reached stage three of the Slur Cycle for “teabagger”: First comes anger at being denigrated, then comes pushback against the denigrators, now perhaps comes ironic reclamation of the term to divest it of its power. Despite the media’s best efforts to depict tea partiers as some sort of cross between Ernst Rohm and Cletus the slackjawed yokel from “The Simpsons,” fully 24 percent of likely voters identify with the movement and one in ten say they’re actively supporting it. With the tax day rallies on deck tomorrow, momentum is on our side. Exit question: Is it time to embrace the teabag?
