I’ve never seen this before, and if Trebek is right, neither has anyone else for about 20 years. A strange clip for many reasons: it’s the semifinal of the Tournament of Champions and yet the Final Jeopardy answer is a gimme; even so, the guy in the lead totally blows it; and what about the betting? The players in second and third should be going for broke (or nearly broke, to leave themselves a cushion in case all three players get the question wrong). Instead they left themselves open to losing if the guy in the lead had made a $2 bet and got the question right. There must be something here that we’re missing.

Also, the sudden death round is sort of … anticlimactic, isn’t it? Give us a little timpani or something, Trebek.
