Maureen Dowd
I love the hurly-burly way the Illinois governor rammed through his choice for the Senate, compared with the namby-pamby way the New York governor strangled his best choice for the Senate.

Me Too.
I love the way he keeps saying words like “Rahm Emmanuel” and “Valerie Jarrett” in his press conferences.
I wonder why he does this.

strangled his best choice, you mean your entitled drinking buddy? This women does not care about anything but her losing a source of information and topics for her vapid and increasingly meaningless opinion pieces. Just another reason the paper is going under.

I’ve always been a fan of the circus and this clown is fantastic.

She says that like it’s a bad thing.

Paterson couldn’t have picked a better choice strangle. Good on ya, Gov.
Dusty on January 25, 2009 at 9:21 AM
… choice to strangle. Ugh.
Dusty on January 25, 2009 at 9:21 AM
I like this article. I may have to throw Mo some stick next time I see her.

I love how they call her “Tracy Flick” like that’s some insult. I know people are supposed to hate her character in that movie and feel sorry for Matthew Broderick’s character, but I didn’t. He was a jerk who cheated on his wife with her best friend and was obsessively jealous of some teenage girl. What a loser. Tracy was a hard-working, driven, smart, young girl who was taken advantage of by an older male teacher, Broderick’s friend. (Hollywood likes to portray these teacher-student relationships as two-sided, but they’re not.. teachers have a responsibility to be the adult and keep it in their pants. That goes for men and women.) Tracy may have had an annoying personality, but at least she was hard working and motivated.
Really, the whole thing just reinforces what we saw with Sarah: liberals just don’t want smart, attractive women to be successful on their own. Keep in line, do what we think is appropriate for a woman to do, and we’ll love you. But think and act independently, and we’ll destroy you.

Modo loved Ken Starr 10 1/2 years ago, too, until his investigation got too close to Bill Clinton. Then he was Satan. Same thing with Blago here — Dowd loves the entertainment value it creates, but on the oft chance that he actually did have real information about some sort of corruption involving Obama, Maureen would develop BDS-Type 2 (Blago Derangement Syndrome), and — were the U.S. Attorney to actually conduct an extended probe — Fitzgerald Derangement Syndrome as well.
jon1979 on January 25, 2009 at 9:56 AM
I don’t think that is completely true. The Left simply does not want *anyone* to be successful, unless they agree with the goals of the Left. Had Sarah Palin been a Lefty, they would have *adored!* her as much as they are adoring Princess Caroline. Had Condi been a Lefty they would have demonized Rev Wright for calling her “Condoskeeza”. Just look at how they turned from demonizing Colin Powell to turning around and praising him for criticizing the Bush Administration, the GOP and supporting Teleprompter Jesus.
For the Left, it has nothing to do with race, beauty, intelligence or anything like that. It has everything to do with liberalism/’progressivism’/socialism/Marxism. Obama does drugs in his youth and is a smoker? Not a problem. President Bush is a drinker in his youth? Open for ridicule and scorn. The same can be said for any corruption or sex scandal. If a Lefty/Democrat participates in corruption or a sex scandal, no big deal. If a Righty/Republican does so, it’s the end of the world!
The fact is that the only reason Blago is getting so much criticism is not because the Left sees this as such a bad thing, but because it has a bad association with their messiah. The new rule is that anything that makes their messiah look bad, they are against.

I had no strong feeling of my new senator eiter way. But I like her a lot more now.

Take a look at this NewsMax story
Should get interesting.

I found the leftards attack on Blago appalling. First, they claim he is mentally incompetent (shades of the Soviet Union!). Then refuse to follow the law as to the appointment for a replacement. And last but not least, they falsely smear Burris.
Well done, leftards! You never fail to disappoint and scare the hell out of me that people like you hold power.
Blake on January 25, 2009 at 10:29 AM
Even more important, the actress that played her mother was the Playboy dancer in Apocalypse Now. Hubba hubba!
Blake on January 25, 2009 at 10:31 AM
So much for the post-partisan age – Mo can’t get past her hatred for ‘off-message’ Dems, let alone the Republicans.
And if ever there was a ‘Tracy Flick’ character in US politics, it’s Obama.
EnglishMike on January 25, 2009 at 10:47 AM
The Media SHOULD love Blago. Simpatico between creative frauds and liars.
marklmail on January 25, 2009 at 10:48 AM
Well , could it be more obvious what she’s longing for?

the_nile on January 25, 2009 at 10:52 AM
Exactly. Like Peggy Noonan ole Dowd seems to be looking for anything male to jump upon. To get man-handled then ravished by any guy in the political spotlight. Creepy, but true.

I love Blago too. He at least is an honestly corrupt Democrat. Can’t get more honest than selling a Senate seat for cash/job.
Unlike Democrat Charlie Rangel who forgets to pay his taxes
Or Democrat Chris Dodd who can’t understand that he got a sweetheart mortgage from a company he’s supposed to regulate but instead protects
Or Democrat Bill Richardson who has to withdraw his Commerce Secretary nomination due to some mysterious pay-for-play thingie that’s brewing
Or Democrat Thomas Geithner who can’t figure out he has to pay taxes even after signing papers acknowledging he has to pay and is given money to pay those taxes.
Or Democrat Eliot Spitzer who is a great moralizer while engaging in wire fraud to pay prostitutes.
Phew, and that’s just right off the top of my head.
You go, Blago!

You’ve gotta love Blago: a clean, articulate Serb kid. I mean, it’s fairy tale, man.

It appears Maureen has a girl crush on Princess Caroline. The more I hear the Left trash Gildebrand the more I like her. If her ‘colleagues’ say she is a ‘pain’ that’s political speak for ‘doesn’t blindly follow the party bosses orders’.
