Hitchens will not only be on the opposite side from D’Souza on the topic of religion in general, but Islam as well. D’Souza is a ROPer.

Hoo boy. He recovers from the beating Robert Spencer gave him to face Christopher Hitchens? Oy.
mram on October 22, 2007 at 6:17 PM
I’ve read some of D’Souza. Hitchens is going to destroy him.
D’Souza’s logic in general doesn’t make any sense, and trying to argue it against such a brilliant and savage atheist is going to be ugly.

I can’t stand it when people type “There. Fixed it for ya.” You didn’t fix anything. You just took the lazy route of pasting my thought and doing a drive by on it, instead of countering with a logical argument of your own.

BadgerHawk, Sorry I didn’t measure up to your level of intellectual rigor.
You have a barely scrutible way of expressing yourself if you meant “sort of” what I meant. A reasonable reader could read both our posts and come away thinking we were on opposite ends of the spectrum.
There was as much logic involved in my snark as there was in your original post—none, it was my personal observation/opinion.

Anybody familiar with D’Souza’s “debate” with Robert Spencer must realize that D’Souza really is a cheap-shot artist.
FloatingRock on October 22, 2007 at 6:55 PM
Hitchens also took a beating this year in a debate with Douglas Wilson

Sorry to get so harsh. I had two other people do that in the last couple of days and for some reason I just find it annoying. It’s like when somone says “I could care less”, when that would mean they actually care. The “Fixed it” thing just pushes my button for some reason.
Anyway, I don’t like D’Souza or Hitchens. But D’Souza is going to get waxed because his arguments always seem to end up contradicting each other. Hitchens, while I’m thankful he is speaking in support of the war against radical Islam, is savage in his efforts to destroy religion. I admire his ability to argue and wish I could express my thoughts as well as he, but he strikes me as a depressing and tormented man.

No problem, BH. I agree that neither DD’S nor CH speak for me, either.

What??? Do you have any clue who Dinesh D’Souza is? How many of you have actually read anything he has wrote?
Sorry, my fault… I wasn’t trying to suggest that D’Souza’s a Muslim, but that he believes that Islam is a religion of peace and that people like Robert Spencer are Islamophobes.
FloatingRock on October 22, 2007 at 8:13 PM
D’Souza is a Catholic. He had once been engaged to Laura Ingraham, FWIW.

I heard she was too much of an alpha female for him.

I had been looking for links about DD been a Muslim also and couldn’t find any. I thought he was a Christian.

Close enough, Catholic.

He also dated Ann Coulter…A lot of people who have never met him or read his books get a very mistaken impression of him. HotAir has a almost cult worship status of Christopher Hitchens, D’Souza is a Catholic intellectual on a equal par with Hitchens, except of course that he is a catholic.
I suspect that because of the fact that Michelle disagrees with some of his views he gets less respect at HA than he deserves. I have seen him speak and read several of his articles and books. Do not be deceived by what you read in the press or on the net about him. The man is brilliant and worth a careful examination of what he writes.
Blowback

Dinesh D’Souza and the truth
Robert Spencer: D’Souza, unable to refute what I actually say, makes up some things I don’t say and refutes them
