As if the victory on Tuesday of the latest neophyte progressive to land in the public eye and scare the crap out of rational folks wasn't enough, older Democrat ne'er do wells are feeling the urge to seek their moment in the sun, regardless of the own track record.
One such miserable example is the lardtacular billionaire J.B. Pritzker, incumbent governor of the state of Illinois. He's done such a God awful job of driving people out of the state and destroying the hopes and dreams of those trapped there, that he's rumpled and ready for another run.
Maybe even using a third term as a stepping stone to bigger and better digs, and Lord knows the man's all about bigger.
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is running for a third term in 2026 — even as questions swirl about whether he will make a bid for president two years later.
“Illinois is standing at the center of the fight — the fight to make life more affordable, the fight to protect our freedoms, the fight for common sense,” Pritzker said in a video announcing his reelection bid.
The two-term Democratic governor is scheduled to address supporters at a rally on Chicago’s South Side on Thursday morning before visiting Rockford, Peoria and Springfield.
Illinois does not have term limits for statewide offices, though there hasn’t been a three-term governor since Republican Jim Thompson, who won four times and held office from 1977 to 1991.
Pritzker has been a fierce critic of President Donald Trump, and his campaign kick-off continues the drumbeat, attacking the administration for unleashing “chaos” and “craziness,” and ticking off concerns about farmers and small businesses being hurt by the administration’s tariffs.
Oh, there are skeptics aplenty, guffawing from the sidelines through their long-suffering tears at the hefty claims of the Land of Lincoln's chief executive.

The governor knows who greases his skids as far as state politics and support go, so just prior to his re-election bid announcement, he made sure to sign the goodie list like he was some Lincoln Land Oprah, handing out cars.
Pet projects have no place in a bloated budget, and yet Democrats have been given $237 million in taxes for their districts that Republicans did not receive.
Illinois Senate Democrats reportedly received $3 million each. Illinois House Democrats got $1.5 million each. Republicans got nothing.
...Buried in its 3,300-plus pages are hundreds of local “member-initiative” earmarks that benefit only Democratic districts. That means 4.3 million Illinoisans, or 1 in 3, was excluded from the pork projects their taxes supported in other legislative districts.
This isn’t the first time blatantly partisan spending has been included in the budget. An investigative report in 2022 found a total of $368 million for House Democrats and $326 million for Senate Democrats. None was included for Republicans.
He's already fashioning himself as a defender of DEI and the alphabet soup sex cult. The only Democrat with a girth big enough to go up against the Trump administration.

People aren't exactly chanting 'Jay-BEE! Jay-BEE!' from the rafters like they chant at Hamas rallies, but he's sure his time will come.
That'd be a 'no.'
And when everyone hears about Pritzker's penchant for taxes - he's in some sort of unholy race with Gaving Newsom to see who can hammer their residents the worst - that 80/20 split he's already way on the wrong side of is going to make his current 2% popularity look like a Mardi Gras parade.
What she's talking about there is the Fair Usage Road Act, which the IL legislature is kicking around...again.
...Illinois state lawmakers again want to tax drivers on each mile of road they use – an idea that lasted a week the last time they raised the idea.
With electric cars and cars being more fuel efficient, Illinois is not seeing as much revenue per vehicle, so state lawmakers are considering a vehicle miles traveled tax to raise more money from motorists. State Sen. Ram Villivalam, D-Chicago, proposed legislation exploring a “road usage charge” to tax drivers by the mile.
The tax might involve transponders, meaning the taxman would be tracking a driver’s movement. Or a photo of the odometer could be sent. Both gas and electric vehicles would be part of a 1,000-vehicle test of drivers who volunteer to be taxed based on miles driven, and possibly on the time of day they use roads. The move would target Illinois drivers who don’t pay the gas tax by driving electric cars or use less gas because their vehicles are efficient.
And it was a pretty smooth move how Pritzker set it up so lawmakers wouldn't be on the hook for raising taxes.
In Illinois, gas taxes automatically raise themselves!
...Since Gov. J.B. Pritzker doubled the gas tax in 2019 and built in automatic annual increases so lawmakers would no longer vote on the unpopular taxes, the amount drivers pay in gas taxes has reached roughly $2 billion. Illinois drivers pay the second-highest gas taxes in the nation, behind only California.
That's a brilliant bit of progressive engineering. It gets every last legislative thief off the hook.
He's also in another neck-'n-neck race with Newsom - who can drain their state of taxpayers the quickest.
By God, IL is holding its own in that pne.

...Illinois’ high taxes, failing schools, high crime, and statewide sanctuary laws has resulted in the state exchanging high income residents for migrants. Wirepoints reports that there are over 530,000 illegal migrants in Illinois.
Since 2010, 1.6M residents have fled Illinois. The difference in income between those departing and arrivals to the state has grown from $5,519 to $37,922. Polls show taxes are #1 reason residents leave and that 50% of those remaining would leave if could.
Despite receiving $14 billion in COVID money for operations Pritzker raised taxes and fees 49 times draining $6.7 billion from taxpayers. Illinois residents pay the highest taxes in the nation yet the state ranks dead last in economic equity strongly suggesting tax dollars wasted.
But when you look at what Pritzker has done, what his virtue-signaling needs defending from Trump, and what he's proposing to do in the future? Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems like every last thing on the list is what we just voted against on November 5th.
It really does, doesn't it?
I think Democrats keep proving we're not the crazy ones, but I'd prefer no one tells them. The 'definition of insanity' quote has been around long enough, and if they haven't caught on yet?
They were never meant to.
I voted for that, too.
