I mean, are we watching the people who truly were the threat to democracy begin to dissolve in real-time?
HO-LEE-SMOKES, it’s starting to look like it.
A bit of grim Sunday news: large scale layoffs at Meta start next week, possibly Wednesday.https://t.co/zSUDtTllWw

According to the report which just broke in the Wall Street Journal, the cuts are going to be substantial across the Meta-verse.
…The layoffs are expected to affect many thousands of employees and an announcement is planned to come as soon as Wednesday, according to the people. Meta [META 2.11%increase] reported more than 87,000 employees at the end of September. Company officials already told employees to cancel nonessential travel beginning this week, the people said.
The planned layoffs would be the first broad head-count reductions to occur in the company’s 18-year history. While smaller on a percentage basis than the cuts at Twitter Inc. this past week, which hit about half of that company’s staff, the number of Meta employees expected to lose their jobs could be the largest to date at a major technology corporation in a year that has seen a tech-industry retrenchment.
As Elon Musk found when he got inside the Twitter building, it turns out there were quite a few expendable employees at Facebook/Meta, too. Now that the Lizard King, Meta Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg, no longer needs tens of thousands of employees to manipulate personal Facebook pages or suppress the flow of information to do the Biden administration’s unconstitutional bidding, it’s ‘off with their well-compensated heads’ in the employment sense.
…The cuts expected to be announced this week follow several months of more targeted staffing reductions in which employees were managed out or saw their roles eliminated.
“Realistically, there are probably a bunch of people at the company who shouldn’t be here,” Mr. Zuckerberg told employees at a companywide meeting at the end of June.
Ya think? It sure must have been lucrative while it lasted to be able to hire so many misinformation overseers so fast. Tracking American citizens’ every move, parsing their thoughts, and making sure they only received government-approved narratives takes resources and tons of eyeballs.
Shareholders, OTOH, have not been happy with Zuckerberg’s stewardship in the least, with the stock having lost over 70% of it’s value this year, and have been rumbling for the machetes to come out.
…Last month, investment firm Altimeter Capital said in an open letter to Mr. Zuckerberg that Meta should slash staff and pare back its metaverse ambitions, reflecting the rising discontent among shareholders.
That’s a whale of a company performance chart for the boy genius there.

And, frankly, the environment just isn’t friendly for information-tracking Nazis/ government stooges anymore. There’s the fact the public is aware of what they’ve been doing and every bit of information that comes out about it is more egregious, more damning than the last. And which friends are always in Facebook jail? The ones who put up conservative memes. People notice that stuff.
Dozens of federal officials across multiple agencies within the Biden administration communicated extensively with social media companies to coordinate censorship of information, according to internal documents released by Republican Attorneys General Eric Schmitt of Missouri and Jeff Landry of Louisiana.
Officials within the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services sent emails to employees at Facebook and Twitter to flag instances of alleged misinformation and provide talking points to counter allegedly false narratives spreading on the platforms.
Government officials would occasionally initiate this activity, with one message from a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention official requesting monthly meetings with Facebook to plan “debunking” strategies, and a White House official requesting the removal of a parody Anthony Fauci account.
One collection of emails shows Facebook staff collaborating closely with staff at the the Department of Health and Human Services to remove Facebook groups, with one message describing the collaboration as “critical.”
Meta has competition now, something it didn’t have for the longest time, and some firms – like Apple – are allowing customers to just flat out opt IN, vice being trapped on a platform that tracks them with no recourse. Americans are on to these guys, in a big way. And they are over it.

What would really be lovely would be if one of the overindulged former lords of the innerwebs gave up the goods on his way out the door.
In any event, it is some lovely schadenfreude in the air these past couple of days. Tiny, horrible people on tech thrones who self-righteously made lives miserable, made destroying lives easy, and facilitated the greatest injustice ever perpetrated against the American people are having the chair legs cut out from under them and getting dumped on their arrogant butts.
