In a blinding flash of insight that you know had to rock his teeny, tiny brain-housing group, Connecticut’s Senator Chris Murphy said something truthful and germane regarding the European energy crisis on Tuesday:

…U.S. Senator Chris Murphy on Tuesday criticized Europe’s overreliance on Russian energy, saying it had come at a heavy cost and called on the region to start investing heavily in alternative supplies.

“What a mistake for Europe to have been welded to Russia when it comes to energy,” Democratic Party member Murphy told CNBC’s Hadley Gamble at the Warsaw Security Forum in Poland.

“We’re now seeing the price of that mistake, so let’s make up for lost time,” he said.

I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if that doesn’t sound vaguely familiar.

I called it a “flash” because he just as quickly reverted to his memorized, liberal formulaic recitation.

…“This is a moment for Europe to spend some money,” he said. “I know that’s hard to do when you’re right now dealing with such economic pressures. But this is the moment to spend money on nuclear energy, on renewable energy, on connecting to non-Russian pipelines.”

He hailed the U.S.’s Inflation Reduction Act, which was signed into law by President Joe Biden in August, and which includes a range of provisions to bolster the country’s transition toward clean energy.

Because, as Europe demonstrates over and over again every single freezing cold day/lights-out night, renewables/Green energy/argle-bargle works so well. And since he’s a Democrat – let’s hand out money.

…He added that the U.S. may be willing to support Europe financially in its energy transition, saying it was in the interests of democratic nations.

“I’m hopeful that the Americans will put some money up to help Europe,” he said. “This is a moment to to make some investments will pay off in the long run.”

Whut? No – no money for Euro Greens, Senator. This is where he falls flat on his face. The interview lead-in question was about energy security as well as energy poverty, and Democrats have us well on our way to impoverished both fiscally and as far as any form of energy goes. The situation is so dire worldwide, that the International Monetary Fund felt it necessary to speak pretty bluntly while releasing its World Economic Outlook, also on Tuesday.

“The worst is yet to come, and for many people 2023 will feel like a recession,” the report reads.

Well, hey! That’s cheerful…not. The IMF just hammers away at COVID, Ukraine, China’s lockdowns coupled with a teetering real-estate property crisis, global inflation fighting monetary policies which can sometimes be conflicting, and, especially, an ongoing upheaval in energy supplies.

…The International Monetary Fund predicts global growth will slow to 2.7% next year, 0.2 percentage points lower than its July forecast, and anticipates 2023 will feel like a recession for millions around the world.

…The IMF also highlighted that the risk of monetary, fiscal, or financial policy “miscalibration” had “risen sharply,” while the world economy “remains historically fragile” and financial markets are “showing signs of stress.”

…The energy crisis is also weighing heavily on the world’s economies, particularly in Europe, and it “is not a transitory shock,” according to the report.

“The geopolitical re-alignment of energy supplies in the wake of Russia’s war against Ukraine is broad and permanent,” the report added. “Winter 2022 will be challenging for Europe, but winter 2023 will likely be worse,” the IMF said.

Mince-no-words Jamie Dimon again spoke the obvious to all but the Biden administration, and its sorry enablers like Chris Murphy.

…“America needs to play a real leadership role. America is the swing producer, not Saudi Arabia. We should have gotten that right starting in March,” he said, referring to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24.

That’s right. We ARE. Well…were.

Now, nobody in the European Union is very fond of the Poles, being a little rough around the edges to refined Brussels sensibilities, and they – especially the Germans – may be less so if they all survive the winter. There is no love lost, nor has there been from the beginning for Poland, for promises that have turned into a rude awakening to the Chris Murphys/EU elites of the Left.

The Kremlin behaved “like a drug dealer” when it comes to Europe’s gas supplies, according to Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

…“Lack of gas, very expensive prices of gas and electricity all over Europe – this is the real price of the agreement between Germany and Russia,” Morawiecki said.

Chris Murphy will still have heat, with a stove for the help to cook on, and lights to eat dinner by in December. But there’s going to be a vast number of Europeans who will have that same flash of intuition but in the dark, and they will look to the Germans in the dead of winter, and channel Tupolev’s crewman, just before the torpedo hit.

It will be true. All the smirks in the world won’t change it.
