Video: New Crossroads GPS ad on Obama's shovel-ready jobs

From essentially the same people who brought you the cheerful and chipper Debbie-Wasserman-Schultz-as-Debbie-Downer commercial, a new ad that’s not so funny, but right on the mark:

The ad is the first in a two-month and $20 million campaign that suggests Crossroads GPS, the 501(c)(4) arm of American Crossroads, the non-profit political organization founded by Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie, aims to be a major player in the 2012 elections.

More information, from Jonathan Martin at Politico:

The third-party GOP group is spending $5 million on the first ads of the blitz and they’ll air starting Monday on national cable and in 10 states that will be presidential battlegrounds or that feature Senate contests. …

The first ad will air in: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, and Virginia.

The ad is anything but fluff — and President Barack Obama already knows he’ll have to grapple with the negative implications of countless dejecting economic indicators. But nobody who wants to beat the incumbent can afford to forget: In President Obama’s time in office, unemployment has gone up 25 percent (that means more than 14 million Americans are out of work!), the national debt has gone up by 35 percent and gas prices have skyrocketed 104 percent.

Update: This article originally made it sound as though American Crossroads created the ad. In fact, Crossroads GPS, the 501(c)(4) arm of American Crossroads, did.
