In covering most stories, I do my best to keep my inner eight-grader under control.
This is not one of those stories.
By the way — if you are of tender sensitivities, are planning to eat soon, you are given fair warning. This story put David off his game. And that is hard to do.
And if you thought you'd go through your day without hearing about rectal drug injection, you're out of luck. If it helps, think of it as snorting cocaine through the wrong end.
No, that doesn't help at all, does it?
If you're a Minnesota taxpayer — as in many other blue states — you've seen your tax money flushed down an endless parade of money pits and dubious causes and bloated programs and fraudulent schemes, to the point where you might look at your fellow voter and rhetorically ask "will you people ever lear?"
But this? This may be the foulest-smelling one of all.
The Walz/Flanagan administration — prominently including Senate candidate and sitting Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan - spent $8 million in taxpayer money literally shoved...
...well, I'll let Colin Rugg explain:
Dem Senate candidate Peggy Flanagan and Gov. Tim Walz steered taxpayer money to Booty Bumping kits so drug users could take meth and heroin up the butthole, according to the Washington Free Beacon. The rectum kits were reportedly part of a $100 million grant. The "boofing" kits come with free lube and a pamphlet with step-by-step instructions on how to shove drugs up your butt. "These grants will ensure that everyone can access the supports they need to find and secure safe, stable housing," Flanagan said of the 'Minnesotans facing homelessness' grants. Minnesota has given Southside Harm Reduction Services $7.9 million in the past few years, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon. The nonprofit provides "harm reduction" supplies like the booty bumping kits so drug users can "safely" ingest drugs through the rectum. "Try to poop before. This is so your drugs are absorbed better. Stand, squat, or lay on your side in a comfortable position. It never hurts to have a boofing buddy!" Southside Harm Reduction Services says in the instructions.

But hey - at least it's all for a good cause (emphasis added).
Southside touts the booty bumping kits, also known as "boofing" kits, in social media posts and on its website as safer methods to ingest some drugs and an efficient way to get high. Booty bumping helps drugs "reach the bloodstream quickly," allowing practitioners to "reach a high faster than some other routes of administration," Southside Harm Reduction says.
Southside Harm Reduction offers other instructions.
"Try to poop before. This is so your drugs are absorbed better," Southside Harm Reduction Services advises in a pamphlet contained in the kits. "Stand, squat, or lay on your side in a comfortable position. It never hurts to have a boofing buddy!"
Boofing is controversial among harm reduction advocates. Because the drugs bypass the digestive system and enter the bloodstream quickly, it can increase the likelihood of fatal overdoses.
Minnesotans are going without Medicare because of rampant fraud. The schools are collapsing. The state's once-stellar GDP growth, a leading indicator for future economic activity, has become one of the most stagnant in the country. The Vikings, Twins, Wild, Timberwolves, even the WNBA's Lynx mix years of mediocrity with bouts of choking in the first rounds of playoffs.
But we're pioneering efficient absorption of drugs — letting that buzz hit 'em where the good Lord split 'em!
This is what the Walz-Flanagan administration calls "harm reduction." A Minneapolis nonprofit, Southside Harm Reduction Services, hands out "booty bumping" kits — free lube, syringes and a how-to pamphlet so users can ingest meth and heroin through their rectum. The pamphlet's actual advice: "Try to poop before. This is so your drugs are absorbed better." And: "It never hurts to have a boofing buddy!" State spending records show the Walz administration has sent this group more than $3.1 million since 2020. Walz signed the 2023 law that made handing out drug paraphernalia legal in Minnesota. And when he announced his $100 million homelessness package, Southside was one of the featured grantees — with Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan on hand to promise the grants would "ensure that everyone can access the supports they need." So what did Minnesota get for the money? The 2024 statewide count found homelessness up 10%, unsheltered homelessness up 24% — and up 53% in Greater Minnesota. Overdose deaths have stalled at 994 a year. We have many open homeless shelter beds, but they don't allow drug use in homeless shelters, so the beds remain unused as we dump taxpayer money into "booty-bumping kits." Not treatment. Not recovery. Not results on homelessness. Step-by-step instructions for using drugs — underwritten by your tax dollars. Peggy Flanagan wants to take this record to the U.S. Senate. Minnesota can't afford to send St. Paul's failures to Washington. Vote @Michele_Tafoya for US Senate 12 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY #SaveOurState #StopTheFraud #VoteRepublican

Well, I sure don't feel like a chump at all.
