Good Journalism Has A Hundred Fathers. The "Minnesota Star Tribune" Is An Orphan.

Living here in Minnesota, at the epicenter (for now) of the systematic pillaging of the public treasury, it's starting - juuuust starting - to feel like the figurative snowball is starting to roll down the hill.

Will it be enough to overcome the infamous intertia of the Minnesota voter, too many of whom are still convinced that Minnesota is the exemplar of "Good Government" of 1970s myth?  To say nothing of the (alleged) systematic election fraud (although perish the thought - because while the state's executive branch is fairly swamped with allegations, indictments and convictions for corruption on a level that would make Newark or Baltimore or Chicago blance in horror, don't you dare suggest the Secretary of State's office is above all that.

I digress.  The story that's been leaking out for years is suddenly...well, leaking faster.

YouTube journo Nick Shirley posted a long video of his busting an apparent scam daycare in Minneapolis that, by Shirley's account, has glommed onto millions of tax dollars and doesn't appear to have cared for a single child.

It's a long watch, but it's worth it:

But I come here today not to praise Nick Shirley (although his effort is worthy of praise)...:

...but to push back on impressions like this:

She's not wrong about the Minnesota Star Tribune.  Put a pin in that - we'll come back to the Strib in a bit.

But as great is Nick Shirley's piece is, he stands on the shoulders of some regional giants.

Bill Glahn at the Center of the American experiment has been on this since whatever "beginning" there was.

Ditto the guys from Powerline, especially Scott Johnson.

As to "stinging" fake charities, Liz Collin of Minnesota's regional conservative outlet Alpha News was staking out fake charities - feeding centers, daycares, "autism centers" long ago:

And Hot Air's own David Strom has been covering this since there's been anything to cover.

Of course, journalism is only the beginning: if there aren't consequences for all that alleged fraud, what's the point of all that journalisming?  Joe Teirab is a former prosecutor, a Marine and a once and perhaps future GOP candidate:

Nick Shirley and his audience are more than welcome - but let's make sure credit goes where it's due.

No credit, by the way, is due in any way to the Star Tribune - which is Minnesota's "newspaper of record" and does its best to make sure that record doesn't inconvenience the DFL in any way.

Charges that the paper is the DFL's house PR firm appear to be...

...well...

If media coverage could be a soothing backrub, that's what the Strib would be giving the Governor.

Aniyway - keep the Nick Shirleys coming.
