Living here in Minnesota, at the epicenter (for now) of the systematic pillaging of the public treasury, it's starting - juuuust starting - to feel like the figurative snowball is starting to roll down the hill.
Will it be enough to overcome the infamous intertia of the Minnesota voter, too many of whom are still convinced that Minnesota is the exemplar of "Good Government" of 1970s myth? To say nothing of the (alleged) systematic election fraud (although perish the thought - because while the state's executive branch is fairly swamped with allegations, indictments and convictions for corruption on a level that would make Newark or Baltimore or Chicago blance in horror, don't you dare suggest the Secretary of State's office is above all that.
I digress. The story that's been leaking out for years is suddenly...well, leaking faster.
YouTube journo Nick Shirley posted a long video of his busting an apparent scam daycare in Minneapolis that, by Shirley's account, has glommed onto millions of tax dollars and doesn't appear to have cared for a single child.
It's a long watch, but it's worth it:

The Trump admin needs to STORM these places
We’re SICK AND TIRED of these people getting away with STEALING our tax dollars!@nickshirleyy pic.twitter.com/VVWwuvHY1x
But I come here today not to praise Nick Shirley (although his effort is worthy of praise)...:
If we had 50 more @nickshirleyy's we might be able to save the republic.
— Walter Hudson (@WalterHudson) December 28, 2025
...but to push back on impressions like this:
Where was the Minneapolis Star Tribune on the Somali mass fraud scandal? Too busy supporting Tim Walz’s radical trans agenda to bother doing what a 23-year-old took the time to do & break the biggest fraud story in the country?
— Megyn Kelly (@megynkelly) December 28, 2025
She's not wrong about the Minnesota Star Tribune. Put a pin in that - we'll come back to the Strib in a bit.
But as great is Nick Shirley's piece is, he stands on the shoulders of some regional giants.
Bill Glahn at the Center of the American experiment has been on this since whatever "beginning" there was.

Ditto the guys from Powerline, especially Scott Johnson.
As to "stinging" fake charities, Liz Collin of Minnesota's regional conservative outlet Alpha News was staking out fake charities - feeding centers, daycares, "autism centers" long ago:
OMG 🚨

Liz Collin personally went to a dozen sites, found empty - adult day cares - Autism clinics with no kids - but the parking lot had luxury cars parked in front
The fraud in Minnesota, has gone from ($1B) to ($18B) and neither Tim Walz or Ilhan Omar have been indicted yet… pic.twitter.com/cWPHMJXnNf
And Hot Air's own David Strom has been covering this since there's been anything to cover.
Of course, journalism is only the beginning: if there aren't consequences for all that alleged fraud, what's the point of all that journalisming? Joe Teirab is a former prosecutor, a Marine and a once and perhaps future GOP candidate:
Two things can be true at once:
— Joe Teirab (@JoeTeirab) December 27, 2025
1. Locals @billglahn, @LouRaguse and others have done incredible work to uncover and highlight rampant Minnesota fraud.
2. @nickshirleyy catapulted the dialogue into the stratosphere.
But let’s not forgot some people—the U.S. Attorney’s…
Nick Shirley and his audience are more than welcome - but let's make sure credit goes where it's due.
No credit, by the way, is due in any way to the Star Tribune - which is Minnesota's "newspaper of record" and does its best to make sure that record doesn't inconvenience the DFL in any way.
2025 is ending like it started: @StarTribune ignoring $$$BILLIONS in fraud. This “year in review” mentions a liberal’s litany of “highlights,” but can’t bring itself to even mention the word “fraud.” This from the newspaper which remonstrated less than a week ago defending its… pic.twitter.com/v1lvGjzWAs

Charges that the paper is the DFL's house PR firm appear to be...

Not a peep about fraud, but a big story on Tim Walz building his influencer army. pic.twitter.com/TTndB5c9Sn

If media coverage could be a soothing backrub, that's what the Strib would be giving the Governor.
Aniyway - keep the Nick Shirleys coming.
Also: DOJ investgators.
