Liberal America could barely comprehend what was happening this week. Fox News host Tucker Carlson released portions of the 41,000-plus hours of security footage that shredded the left’s most prominent narratives about the January 6 riot. The media moved quickly to provide damage control, but the game is over. This event was never a violent insurrection; we know that. We now have video evidence to substantiate that claim, and the left cannot argue against the facts. It’s on tape—and the scores of folks prosecuted for what amounted to trespassing could have another day in court that could lead to their exoneration.
One claim we all knew to be false was the liberal media’s attempt to cast this riot as worse than the 9/11 terror attacks, where nearly 3,000 Americans were killed. Ashli Babbitt was the only person killed on January 6, whose police-involved shooting is still shrouded in mystery. Officer Brian Sicknick died of natural causes; he suffered a stroke, which is very different than what the media told us about his death, which was that protesters murdered him.
Yet, the real kicker was Carlson exposing the lies around the imprisonment of Jacob Chansley, the “QAnon Shaman,” who has been smeared as the new face of right-wing domestic terrorism. If he was such a threat, why was he escorted around the Capitol Building by police? At one point, Chansley walks past several Capitol Police officers who do nothing; the ones following him even try to open doors to rooms that had been locked, presumably as a security precaution. Chansley even thanked and prayed for the officers. Meanwhile, some liberal commentators said he should have been shot, and based on the footage, that would have led to murder charges against the police. The footage is clear: some Capitol Police Officers assisted some of the so-called “terrorists” in navigating the building.
Even worse, we’ve learned that the lawyers representing the J6 defendants had no access to this footage. Even the chairman of the select committee, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), said he didn’t even watch the footage.
“I’m actually not aware of any member of the committee who had access. We had a team of employees who kind of went through the video,” he said.
An event that some people think is worse than 9/11—and no one watched the tape? It’s not shocking, however. They knew the liberal media would give them plenty of shade to engage in this nonsense. The committee was also the Democrats’ 2022 strategy before the economy got torched. Their only miscalculation was that they felt Americans would be glued to the television over this riot. In reality, no one cares anymore.
Were there clowns who attacked cops and engaged in wanton vandalism? Yes, but based on the footage, thousands did what many do when they enter the Capitol: sightsee and take pictures. Did they trespass? Sure. But Chansley got four years in jail, a sentence longer than most violent criminals in blue state America.
