Last week, the Media Research Center’s Dan Joseph decided to talk to demonstrators at the Supreme Court, as oral arguments on the recent marriage equality case before the Court were being heard. Now, most media outlets focus on the anti-gay right, and their hateful comments towards homosexuals and gay marriage movement. Yet, it goes both ways. Case in point, political activist Dan Savage, who once wished that Republicans “were all f**king dead,” and that Pennsylvania Senate candidate Carl Romanelli “should be dragged behind a pickup truck until there’s nothing left but the rope.”

When Joseph reiterated Savage’s comments to pro-gay marriage demonstrators, they agreed his remarks were hateful, retched, or constituted hate speech, but they still like him.

Apparently, ABC is planning to produce a television sitcom based on his life, which was Joseph’s follow-up: is it appropriate to give a man who says these things his own show? Most were not forthcoming, a couple times in the video some folks were interrupting Joseph’s interview, telling interviewees that they didn’t need to offer further comments to him.

One lady aptly noted that we had the Honey Boo-Boo show, so standards are pretty low.

Nevertheless, while Mr. Savage’s remarks are odious, (again) he has every right to say them. Just as Dan Joseph has every right to make man on the street videos showing how low liberal IQs really are at these events.
