Mia Love officially announces run for Congress in 2014

Mia Love, mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah and conservative crowd favorite of 2012, made it official Saturday she’s looking for a rematch with Rep. Jim Matheson in 2014. A break-out star of the GOP Convention and the Tea Party circuit, Love lost to Matheson in ’12 by under 800 votes. She made the announcement at the state Republican convention:

“You and I have some unfinished business with Rep. Jim Matheson,” Love told the more than 2,500 delegates gathered for the organizing convention, recalling her narrow loss last November.

Earlier this year, Love filed her candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission and hired top GOP strategist Dave Hansen, who ran Sen. Orrin Hatch’s successful 2012 re-election campaign.

Love isn’t sure whether she’ll face a primary challenger, but told reporters, “hopefully not.” She also announced on her Twitter and Facebook accounts after outreach to see “if the momentum was there, if we could build upon what we had before,” she said. “People are getting behind us and are more determined than ever to win this seat.” Her district is a top target for Republicans in the upcoming off-year elections.

And, now, please enjoy a reprise of her RNC speech:
