Biden Pivots to Being the Comedian-in-Chief and Promptly Botches the Punch Line

Call me Karen, but it's not funny. Advisers around President Biden are encouraging him to lighten the current mood of Americans by making jokes about his age and mental acuity.

Most Americans (including politicians from both parties) reacted with alarm when the Hur report was released. Its findings that Joe Biden is floundering to remember big events, much less conversations in everyday life, were impossible to ignore. Special Counsel Hur confirmed what everyone already knows - Joe Biden is not able to do his job. He is mentally feeble.

Shecky Biden showed up to address the National Association of Counties Legislative Conference on Monday. He patted himself on the back for Congress passing his bipartisan infrastructure law as he told the audience that it is "making the biggest investment in climate change ever anywhere in the entire world."

"After devastating floods, tornadoes, wildfires and hurricane, we're going to keep working together to respond, to rebuild and boost resilience to extreme weather. My administration is also helping install rooftop solar to build a national network of electric vehicle charging stations for revitalizing fenceline communities smothered by the legacy of pollution like where I lived in Claymont," Biden said, referring to where his family moved in Delaware during the early 1950s.

"We're promoting clean energy in industries of the future made here in America. Made in America," he said while transitioning.

"What I didn't realize, and I've been around, I know it don't look like it, but I've been around a while. I do remember that," Biden said, garnering laughter and applause.

He was taking a shot at the Hur report by saying he remembered he was old. He botched his joke, though, at the end of his speech when he added to a statement  - he admitted, "I forgot something" as he made a final comment.

Oh my. Telling jokes isn't easy. It is expecting too much for an elderly man in mental decline to entertain audiences with jokes, even jokes that are at his own expense. It only makes the situation worse when he flubs the joke and says, "I forgot something." Yeesh.

Biden is trying to shake off the description Hur used to justify not charging Biden with criminal behavior in his handling of classified documents. He isn't up to going through a trial and a jury would likely not convict him out of sympathy. Hur described the president of the United States as "a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory." Ladies and Gentlemen, the leader of the free world...

People may awkwardly laugh at the old man's jokes but the failing mental acuity of Biden is not funny. I'm wondering what the world leaders who are visiting Biden at the White House must be thinking, given the Hur report's conclusions. He has welcomed the German chancellor and the King of Jordan since last Thursday. Sure, they both know him and have spoken one-on-one with him previously, but it must be in the backs of their minds that America's role on the world stage is diminished by Joe Biden's weakness.

It isn't funny. It's scary. His condition is bad enough that a special counsel report has told the world that Biden can't stand trial. So, how can he run the country? The report didn't exonerate him of his mishandling of classified documents. He's been doing that for decades, though he was not entitled to have the documents in his possession as a senator or as vice president. Joe Biden's corrupt behavior spans his political career.

Biden is behind in polling. He has a tough road to re-election. Yet, instead of reaching out to everyone, as he promised to do, he is not able to be President Unity. He trashes Donald Trump and his supporters during every speech. He can't help himself. Trump lives rent-free in Biden's brain. But, by dragging down Trump's voters, he is doing what Hillary Clinton did when she called Trump voters a basket of deplorables. How did that work out in 2016? Biden tried to soften his criticism that Republicans didn't vote for his foreign aid package by claiming he only blames some Republicans, not all.

"Some of my extreme Republican friends – and by the way, this is not your father's Republican Party … I'm not taking on all Republicans. I really mean it. The MAGA Republicans, a minority, but a powerful minority. They went out and they killed the deal. My predecessor said he didn't like it. It was a loss for him. We have to end the political games, folks," Biden said Monday.

We have to end the political games, eh? Now that's funny, Joe.
