Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, who did you like the play? First Lady Jill Biden posted a video on social media on Wednesday evening. She described a performance by a troupe of tap dancers as a “playful interpretation of The Nutcracker Suite.” Uh oh.
I’ll give you a moment to watch it and then continue. You can see for yourself what I’m talking about.
A bit of magic, wonder, and joy brought to you by the talented tappers of Dorrance Dance, performing their playful interpretation of The Nutcracker Suite.
Enjoy! 💕 pic.twitter.com/qXtCm4t37o

You notice that this “playful interpretation” is performed in the halls of the White House. There is an acceptable amount of diversity among the dance troupe. The costumes are bright and kind of over-the-top. Most distinguishing is that this is a tap dance performance. The Nutcracker is a Tchaikovsky ballet. It has been performed since 1892. The decision to bring in this performance and film it as a part of the White House’s Christmas celebration must be part of Joe Biden’s desire to fundamentally change America.
What is wrong with the classic version? Little girls everywhere (not to be sexist, little boys attend performances, too) are thrilled to see a live performance of the ballet in their childhood days. My sisters and I loved it. Girls who take ballet classes long to be chosen to dance The Nutcracker. In other words, The Nutcracker has a special place at Christmas time.
Do I like this modern interpretation of the classic ballet? No. I’m a traditionalist. I’m not the target audience here, though. Jill Biden is reaching out to every demographic possible in hopes of attracting voters in 2024 for her husband’s re-election. Jill wants to spend four more Christmases in the White House.
I’ve written that Jill Biden’s taste in decorating is her own and she’s entitled to it. Her decorating style is different from Melania Trump’s, for example. Before Melania, the annual White House decorations were mostly traditional and there wasn’t a lot of difference from year to year, administration to administration. Melania, with a European background, shook everyone up with her interpretation of how she wanted the White House to look. Libs lost their mind and Jill Biden was probably among them at the time.
The group is in a candy-themed hall leading into the main Christmas tree in the Blue Room, since 1961 the main tree has usually been housed there. The dancers show off how each room has been decorated for the celebrations.
‘A bit of magic, wonder, and joy brought to you by the talented tappers of Dorrance Dance, performing their playful interpretation of The Nutcracker Suite. Enjoy!,’ Dr. Biden wrote.
‘Magic, Wonder and Joy’ is the theme this year, President Joe Biden’s third in the White House.
So, is this just Jill Biden shaking up tradition and putting her spin on holiday entertainment? Perhaps. But, as it turns out, there’s a political component here. Surprise! Politics is happening in the White House, even at Christmas.
I looked into the dance troupe because I am not familiar with it. According to its website, “Dorrance Dance is an award-winning tap dance company based in New York City. Founded in 2011 by Artistic Director Michelle Dorrance, we have a deep dedication to tap dance, its traditions, and its possibilities.”
The first topic listed under the company’s name in a search is ‘Antiracism’ and now things are becoming clear. Was this dance troupe chosen because Jill Biden is a fan? Maybe. Did Ashley Biden suggest the troupe to her mother? Maybe. Ashley made suggestions during the 2020 campaign to get Joe Biden exposure among young Democrats. Remember those ridiculous interviews with people like Cardi B and others the campaign recruited to be social media influencers? Biden has lost young voters so it’s possible Ashley is helping again. Most importantly, in Democrat politics racial politics is at the top of any considerations.
Upon clicking on the Antiracism tab, it become clear that social justice is a big part of this dance troupe. There are urgent calls to action, for example, and they have an email list to sign on for updates. There are stories like a mass shooting occurred in Monterey Park, California, and a 29-year-old black motorist who was beaten by black police officers in Memphis. There may be a bridge there to tap dancing but I don’t see it.
Joe Biden has brought politics into everything. It seems Jill Biden goes about her life the same way. Now we have a politically active tap dance troupe doing its interpretation of a classic ballet in the White House. What a time to be alive. This is Biden’s America. Christmas is political and Joe’s re-election is at the top of the agenda.
The critics on social media are brutal.
This should’ve come with a sensitivity label. This is horrendous.
