NYC Mayor Blames Rise in Prostitution on Biden Border Crisis

There is a booming red light district in Queens and NYC Mayor Eric Adams says it is due to the Biden border crisis. Nothing good comes from the porous southern border and this is just another example.

Mayor Adams pointed to a boom in prostitution in Corona, Queens where female Venezuelan illegal aliens struggle to find other work. The booming prostitution business is just one example of how the border crisis is affecting New York City. Adams said Tuesday that it is not clear whether the Venezuelans are being sex-trafficked or if they chose this line of work on their own.

Adams spoke to reporters about the situation.

But, speaking to reporters Tuesday, Adams said: “This is what happens when you create an atmosphere that people can’t provide for themselves — you can’t work, you can’t provide for your job and have to turn to illegal activities to do so.”

“When I talk about the spiraling impact of how this is going to affect our city, this is what I’m talking about,” he said. “We are going to create generational problems based on the failure of the national government, and this is one example of that.”

Adams added that another of these red-light districts has emerged in East New York, Brooklyn, where he said prostitution is “overt during the day.”

Adams, a former cop, doesn’t buy the argument from some city officials that prostitution is a victimless crime. And he doesn’t think it should be legalized. “This is where idealism collides with realism,” he said.

He doesn’t fall for explanations that the women just want to work. He went on to point out the problems brought on by prostitution are about illegal sex work. “There are real issues around illegal sex work, not only from STDs to sex trafficking to young girls getting involved in it, to violence.”

“So people who don’t understand how serious this is, they are impeding our progress,” Adams said of the city lawmakers pushing for prostitution legalization.

He added: “We need a real partnership to prosecute the johns, we want to focus on the johns, and we want to focus on giving assistance to those sex workers to make sure that they’re not being forced into this activity, but also abide by the law.”

One thing Adams conveniently ignores about the growing prostitution problem is that his sanctuary city is a magnet for illegal aliens. The open southern border thrives because of federal neglect and Democrat-run sanctuary cities. The crisis at the southern border is a humanitarian crisis and this is what the effects of that humanitarian crisis look like. Illegal aliens come from Third World environments, they don’t speak English, they are not educated, and they have no personal resources. It is not a shock that they hit the streets and sell themselves to earn money. Perhaps they have a trafficker they have to pay off. Maybe they have kids to feed. Meanwhile, they are living in a sanctuary city where officials – looking at you, Mayor – have said in the past that they are proud of the city’s sanctuary city status. Officials have assured everyone that the city has the services and resources needed to take care of anyone who comes to the city, regardless of legal status.

It’s all fun and games to preen about what superior humans they are in sanctuary cities until the city is flooded with illegal aliens and the bills come due. Suddenly NYC has the humanitarian crisis that border communities and cities have been talking about for over three years. Everything was fine as long as the illegal aliens remained in Texas or other places that were not NYC. Now they get free transportation to New York and other places that have boasted about welcoming everyone, no matter what.

Adams is a former cop and now the mayor. It’s his job to handle what he asked for. He was warned. He just didn’t think the Biden border crisis would come to his city. The truth is that it is going everywhere. By the end of Biden’s four years of neglecting border security, there will be an estimated 10M illegal aliens in the United States, just from the crisis at the southern border since 2021. Helluva job, Joe.
