DOJ ‘assessing’ Texas’ use of concertina wire to secure the border along the Rio Grande River

The Justice Department is assessing the legality of the use of concertina wire, also called razor wire, along the southern border with Mexico. Texas Governor Greg Abbott is under fire for ‘inhumane’ treatment of illegal immigrants crossing the Rio Grande River.

DOJ is doing the bidding of Mexico. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) doesn’t believe a Texas state trooper’s memo sent to his superiors that claimed officers were ordered to push women and children back into the Rio Grande River. He said that was too “barbaric” to accept as true. However, he does believe the part where the trooper said that officers were also told to deny water to the illegal immigrants. He voiced concern about reports that illegal immigrants are getting caught in razor wire along the border.

“The department is aware of the troubling reports, and we are working with [the Department of Homeland Security] and other relevant agencies to assess the situation,” Justice Department spokesperson Xochitl Hinojosa said.

“It’s inhumane,” López Obrador said at his daily press conference. “We’re going to keep defending our citizens and the general treatment of immigrants.”

What seems to me to be inhumane is the thousands and thousands of migrants traveling through Mexico, undeterred, as Mexican officials turn a blind eye. They are left vulnerable to drug cartels and human traffickers and the elements, including the brutally hot Texas heat. Pointing out the obvious, why isn’t Mexico taking them in? Or, why aren’t they securing their own southern border and turning migrants back? Is putting up a buoy barrier or razor wire to stop them from entering Texas inhumane at the end of a long and treacherous journey from South America or other parts of the world? I don’t think so. Texas has to protect its border because the federal government has left the state on its own.

There are legal ports of entry into our country. Differential treatment shouldn’t be given to those who illegally enter our country. It’s just wrong and with the numbers that have been seen since Joe Biden became president, it is unsustainable. How dare the president of Mexico talk about inhumane treatment. What about the treatment of the Americans living in border communities?

AMLO doesn’t hesitate to criticize Governor Abbott or any conservative politician who advocates for border security. He knows that Texas isn’t breaking any laws but he calls it propaganda. He says the buoy barrier and razor wire are for photos.

“It’s to get votes,” López Obrador said, “or to try and get votes, because I don’t think the people of Texas view the policies in a positive light.”

López Obrador previously criticized Abbott and other conservative lawmakers for their immigration policies. Last year, ahead of the midterms, he asked Mexican Americans in the United States not to vote for candidates who had “anti-immigration” policies.

He reiterated that call earlier this week, urging Hispanic Americans to oppose Abbott and any Republican who fails to denounce his border tactics. Jean-Pierre declined to comment on whether it’s objectionable for a foreign leader to weigh in that way on U.S. campaigns.

The Biden administration chooses to side with Mexico. It remains silent when AMLO criticizes an American governor because that governor is from a red state. The Biden administration has politicized all government agencies, including DHS. It is complicit with the Socialist Mexican president.

I’m sure when DOJ finishes it’s investigation into the use of razor wire, Texas will be in the wrong for doing what it can to protect its border. Governor Abbott isn’t in a mood to cooperate with leaving the border open without a fight. He’s still accepting help from other red state governors.

Texans appreciates the support. AMLO is wrong to think most Texans don’t agree with Abbott’s work to secure the border, certainly among Republican voters.
