Governor Abbott is doing what he said he would do. He said he is resuming the migrant buses going to sanctuary cities across the country in order to ease the burden on Texas border communities. He sent the first migrant bus to Los Angeles on Wednesday. Abbott said it is where they wanted to go.

A total of 42 migrants were driven to Los Angeles. There were eight children included in that number. Governor Abbott noted that city leaders approved its self-declared sanctuary city status. The bus made a stop at Union Station before going to a welcoming center at a nearby church.

Jorge-Mario Cabrera, director of communications for immigrant rights group CHIRLA, was singing the blues over the governor’s action. He was at Union Station when the bus arrived. CHIRLA (the Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights – Los Angeles) was tipped off Tuesday night that a bus would arrive. The illegal aliens are from Venezuela, Guatemala, and Honduras. There are also two people from Africa included in the 42. Cabrera said that one of the Guatemalans has a court date in New York.

“That’s where the cruelty of this process is unbounded,” he said. “That’s why Los Angeles made sure that we were coordinated and prepared to deal with the human beings behind this political charade.”

At the center, the migrants were able to rest and eat, he said, adding that attorneys were made available. “We know that they’re traumatized and they need a number of services,” he said.

This is where the utter hypocrisy of illegal immigration activists shines through. Does Cabrera want people to believe that a bus ride to Los Angeles, free transportation made possible by the residents of Texas, is the traumatic part of illegally entering the United States? He calls it a political charade because when blue cities like Los Angeles do things like declaring themselves sanctuary cities to virtue-signal how welcoming and open they are to everyone who comes, the cities don’t actually expect to have to do anything else. City leaders don’t expect an overwhelmed state like Texas that is dealing with the Biden border crisis, largely on its own, to take them up on their hospitality. They cry foul when a migrant bus shows up. Keep in mind that most buses carry 42 to 50 illegal aliens on these trips. That is such a small number of people to handle that it is almost not even notable in the grand scheme of things. Texas has seen thousands of illegal migrant apprehensions some days and it has been nonstop for the three years of the Biden administration.

Why is sending illegal aliens to a sanctuary city a political charade but making headlines as city officials declare a large city as a sanctuary city is a wonderful move? You know why. Lawlessness is acceptable now. No one in charge of these cities feels the responsibility to uphold current immigration laws, including the president. It comes from the top with the Biden administration.

Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez told The Times on Wednesday that the church was serving as a triage center, with nonprofit organizations and the Community Investment for Families Department among those on hand. Hernandez said migrants were getting services, and some were being connected with relatives.

Hernandez said there were families including “months-old babies that the governor brought over.”

“They were essentially dehumanized,” she said. “They were used by a weak politician as a political stunt.”

The city’s Emergency Operations Center was activated Wednesday afternoon to assist in coordinating city, county and state partners, along with local community organizations, officials said. People needing short-term shelter were to be accommodated by the city’s Recreation and Parks Department.

Dehumanized? Illegal aliens are voluntarily boarding these buses and going to cities that they want to go to. They sign paperwork stating as much. They are asked where they want to go. Sometimes they go to one city as a part of their journey to get to their desired final destination. And as far as the babies go, what would the hypocrites like to happen to them? Separate them from their parents? That’s the choice – keep them together or separate them when the parents want to go elsewhere. This is all so ridiculous. The real trauma happens when the adult migrants travel to the border and cross into the United States illegally. This is the decision of the parent, not Governor Abbott.

Let Los Angeles and other sanctuary cities use the migrant centers and services set up to handle them. What is the problem? They wanted this.

Mayor Karen Bass wasn’t in town. She was in Washington, D.C. when the bus arrived on Wednesday. She issued a statement. She said the bus “did not catch us off guard.”

“It is abhorrent that an American elected official is using human beings as pawns in his cheap political games,” Bass said in a statement.

“Shortly after I took office, I directed city departments to begin planning in the event Los Angeles was on the receiving end of a despicable stunt that Republican governors have grown so fond of,” Bass said.

“Los Angeles is not a city motivated by hate or fear and we absolutely will not be swayed or moved by petty politicians playing with human lives,” Bass said.

Again, so what is the problem? She knew they were coming. She evidently wasn’t too concerned about that because she went to Washington, D.C. rather than be in Los Angeles when they arrived. Bass can call Abbott all the names she wants to call him and his actions but them’s the breaks. Do we think that Governor Newsom will take off on Abbott for this migrant bus like he did on Governor DeSantis when he sent a migrant flight to Sacramento? Maybe but I think Newsom will keep his focus on DeSantis because Newsom thinks he’ll be running for president in 2024 and it may be against DeSantis if Trump doesn’t get the nomination. Abbott isn’t running for president so he isn’t a threat to him as DeSantis is.

This isn’t going to stop until Joe Biden is out of office because he has no intention to close the border. This is an intentional plan to keep the southern border porous and allow as many migrants into the country. Biden is so addled that he listens to the far-left and thinks that they will be his ticket to re-election. It may work for him, depending on which Republican candidate is chosen to run against him. I hope Republicans want to win badly enough this time to choose wisely.
