Biden campaign unveils national advisory board with a familiar chair

Guess who is serving as chairman for Joe Biden’s campaign advisory board? Nancy Pelosi. To be honest, it isn’t a big surprise. She is a legendary Democrat fundraiser.

Biden campaign’s advisory board includes 50 prominent Democrats. You probably won’t be surprised when I say that the words ‘diverse’ and ‘coalition’ are featured prominently when mainstream media write about the advisory board. It includes many of the usual suspects.

The diverse group of 50 officials includes representatives from nearly every facet of the Democratic firmament. It brings together three of Biden’s 2020 primary rivals — Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar — and at least two contenders who eyed the Oval Office had Biden decided not to run for another term, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and California Gov. Gavin Newsom. They’re joined by progressive favorite Rep. Maxwell Frost, new party rising stars including Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, and prolific fundraisers like Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is chairing the group, whose members the campaign says will tap into their donor networks for Biden, make media appearances on his behalf, and reach out to their supporters and communities to make the case directly to voters for another Biden term.

Joe Biden’s poll numbers are really low, historically low for an incumbent president. So, his campaign has to hold together as many identity box checkers as possible. It’s how Joe rolls. Look at his cabinet. None of them are qualified for the jobs he gave them but they each check an identity box that allowed him to brag about how great the nomination is because they are the first (fill in the blank) to hold that position. It’s one of the reasons we are in the mess we are in as a country.

The board released a video Wednesday and it features the individual members each saying a line about being Team Biden-Harris. I noticed a member of the House from Houston, Rep. Sylvia Garcia, who was one of the House impeachment managers during Trump’s administration, delivered her sentence in Spanish. Because, of course she did. Ugh. More members will probably be added later.

“The Democratic Party is fortunate to have an incredible slate of passionate and compelling leaders, all of whom are united behind the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign,” campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz said. “They are representative of the broad, diverse coalition of voters who came together in 2020 to deliver President Biden and Vice President Harris a historic victory, and we are so grateful for their dedication to help this campaign prevail over the MAGA extremist agenda and help President Biden finish the job for the American people.”

They have to get “MAGA extremist” in every statement, no doubt. Biden has no successes to campaign on so he has to campaign against the opposition party. President Unity has to demonize half the country for no other reason than they vote differently than he does.

The board members agree to tap into their donor networks, make media appearances as Biden surrogates, and reach out to their supporters and communities to make the case to voters for a second Biden term.

Most Democrats don’t want Biden to run again. He’s too old and feeble. In order to win, Biden has to build an alliance of young voters and black voters, particularly black women, and lots of blue collar Midwesterners, moderates, and disaffected Republicans. We’ll have to wait and see how successful this group of Biden loyalists are in raising money for Joe Biden.

I’m ready for Ron DeSantis to get into the race and shake things up.
