Newly elected black conservative rips House Democrats over crying wolf on racism

The House Judiciary Committee began its investigation into the chaos on the southern border this week. Newly-elected Republican Rep. Wesley Hunt schooled Democrats on the ineffectiveness of their constant default position on issues – everything is racist. When he was called racist for using the term ‘invasion’ in describing the flood of illegal migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border on a daily basis, he’d had enough.

Many of the Democrats on the committee threw the race card over Republicans calling a hearing on the failure of the Biden administration to secure the southern border. The hearing was titled “Biden’s Border Crisis – Part One,” and the agenda was to examine border security, national security, and how fentanyl has impacted American lives. Democrats claimed that holding the hearing was proof that Republicans are racist. When all else fails, rant about racism.

Hunt, who is a black conservative Republican from Houston, explained that the word invasion is not a racist one, he is not racist, and the fentanyl flowing into this country across the southern border does not care about the skin color of its victims.

Full disclosure: I voted for Hunt when he ran to represent my congressional district. He lost that race but he ran again in 2022, representing a newly-created district.

When everything is racist, nothing is racist. That was his message. Democrats crying wolf at every turn are easily ignored because they have watered down the sting of calling an opponent a racist. It was absolutely ridiculous to claim the reason for the hearing on the southern border was because Republicans are racist. The reasons for the hearing were explained. Biden’s border crisis is a humanitarian crisis, a national security crisis, and the fentanyl crisis is killing thousands of people each month.

Hunt explained on FNC’s Fox and Friends that Democrats use racism as a scapegoat, even when talking about the fentanyl crisis.

Absolutely cannot believe that, because this has absolutely nothing to do with race. And we were talking about fentanyl, and in my opinion, the fentanyl doesn’t care about race either. When you look at what’s happening at our border, you look at what’s happening with human trafficking right here in Houston, Texas, where I’m the congressman for congressional District 38, you look at what’s going on right here in our community, and this has absolutely nothing to do with race. And when you become the boy that cried wolf like the left has become and everything is about race, that it actually weakens those times when race is an actual issue. So what my goal is going to be on this committee is to make sure that we don’t allow them to use race as a scapegoat for everything. Let’s get down to brass tacks as to what’s important to the American people and how can we fix some of these issues that’s happening at the border that’s killing people every single day.

For example, Rep. Jerry Nadler, ranking member of he committee, said during his opening remarks that “the first hearing will showcase the racist tendencies of the extreme MAGA Republican wing of the party that seeks to close the border to refugees from places like Cuba and Venezuela.” It went downhill from there with other Democrats on the committee. The Democrat talking points were all about name-calling.

Good for Wesley Hunt.

Something Hunt noted about the committee hearing was that an hour was wasted at the beginning over reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz wanted to open the hearing with it but Nadler objected. Gaetz said he offered the amendment to the committee two years ago but it was defeated. He was more confident this time around with Republicans in charge of the committee. Nadler said the members already said the Pledge of Allegiance on the House floor every day. Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) tried to add an amendment to the proposal.

“I don’t know why we should pledge allegiance twice in the same day to show how patriotic we are,” said Nadler.

Rhode Island Democratic U.S. Rep. David Cicilline followed up by trying to amend Gaetz’ proposal to disqualify anyone who “supported an insurrection against the government of the United States in any way” from leading the pledge and making a mockery of it by standing “before this committee with their hand over their heart, claiming to support the Constitution.”

You can see why Hunt, a West Point graduate, was frustrated. Democrats are not serious about border control or enforcing immigration laws at the border. A porous border is ok with them. That is why Biden has been able to ignore the border crisis he created. Democrats don’t care and their cohorts in the media are happy to ignore the story to cover for the Democrat in the White House.

Border control has nothing to do with racism. It has everything to do with national security and the humanitarian crisis that a porous border creates. Biden’s dereliction of duty is unacceptable. If he was a Republican, you can bet that Democrats would have their hair on fire and trying to impeach the president.
