Remember that time when former President Barack Obama was addressing Wall Street reform and said, “I do think, at some point, you’ve made enough money.”? Well, what better way to celebrate his own good fortune than buying a fabulous 29-acre estate on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, right? Unless, of course, people paying attention say, “Hey, wait a minute. What about your carbon footprint, Mr. Obama?”
The Obamas rented the place for the summer and loved it so much they offered to buy it. The owner, Boston Celtics owner, Wyc Grousbeck, took them up on it. The Obamas are said to be paying less than the listed price. Here is how TMZ describes the place:
The main residence is just shy of 6,900 square feet. It has 7 bedrooms, so Sasha and Malia have a place to crash, along with several of their friends. It has the obligatory pool, an outdoor fireplace, a chef’s kitchen, vaulted ceilings and 2 guest wings. It has incredible views, especially while soaking in the second-floor balcony Jacuzzi.
The beachfront is private … and comes with a boathouse.
Downside — only a 2-car garage!!! Sorry kids.

The whole bit about saying that someone has “made enough money” is one thing. It’s the type of anti-free market and anti-capitalism statement that a wannabe Democrat Socialist like Barack Obama says. The hypocrisy on climate change is another matter. If the claim that the world is coming to an end in a short 12 years, as the environmental extremists, and the 2020 Democrat candidates running for the presidential nomination embrace, why would Mr. and Mrs. Obama be purchasing an oceanfront property?
Because they know it’s nonsense. And, they are willing to bet an investment of $14.85 million – the reported listed selling price – on the dire predictions from environmental alarmists being wrong. Don’t hold your breath, though, waiting for the left to hold them accountable. The truth is, the Obamas and other wealthy activists are never held to the standard to which they call upon regular Americans to live by. You and I are expected to reduce our carbon footprint by lowering our standards of living. The wealthy liberal elites, however, just claim to buy carbon credits to offset their part in the alleged destruction of the planet and that’s that. They’re all good.
This is the same man who in 2008 told us that “this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal” during his nomination speech. Maybe he believes his own grandiose language. His piece of the island is safe from sinking into the ocean.
I don’t begrudge the Obamas their property purchase. It’s quite normal for Americans to invest in property – it’s a part of the American Dream. I will, however, speak up about the sheer hypocrisy in their actions. Live as large as you want to live, as large as your means allow. Just don’t lecture everyone else about how they live. This is a classic limousine liberal story, as the left was labeled back in the day. The Obamas should be called out for it just as the others in the ranks of the liberal elite.
"If I genuinely believed in 12 years coastal areas would be under water, I wouldn’t buy a $15 million mansion on Martha’s Vineyard which will be toast when the polar icecaps melt. It doesn’t seem like Obama is taking climate change all
that seriously."https://t.co/NG5qXXp32I pic.twitter.com/onOwu7lNtb— Republican Security Council – Keep America Strong (@RSCGOP) August 23, 2019
