Not really. Gaffetastic Joe Biden is alive and well and out on the campaign trail. If he wants to show what a tough and vibrant guy he is at the age of 76, he’s going to have to up his game a lot to spar with the Street-fighter -in- Chief.

Lunch Bucket Joe is campaigning in South Carolina this weekend and he’s making some quote worthy gaffes, which is a surprise to no one. Biden isn’t just slurring his words, as he did in his campaign announcement video and early campaign events, he’s also confusing past and present world leaders.

Saturday he referred to Prime Minister Theresa May as Margaret Thatcher. That was a particularly odd mix-up, given it was during Thatcher’s time that Biden had to drop out of his first try as a candidate in a Democrat presidential primary. He was caught plagiarizing a speech from a Thatcher critic in the Labour Party. Awkward.

“Margaret Thatcher, um, excuse me, Margaret Thatcher — Freudian slip,” Biden said to laughter, according to a campaign pool report. “But I knew her too.” He then corrected himself by saying: “The Prime Minister of Great Britain Theresa May.”

Thatcher, who led the Conservative Party and was the first female British prime minister, served as prime minister during the 1988 U.S. election campaign. Biden made his first White House run then but dropped out in late 1987 after backlash for plagiarizing a speech by Neil Kinnock, the U.K. Labour Party leader and a fierce critic of Thatcher.

And then he went on to explain that Theresa May was one of 14 world leaders who has “expressed concerns” about President Trump. He was speaking to about three dozen people at a $1,000 to $2,800 per person fundraiser. Foreign leaders tend to stay out of American political campaigns, at least publicly. I’ll wait for the press to pick up that part of his speech and investigate the others to which he referred. Yeah, right. The American media is way too busy nostalgically swooning over Good Ole Joe and the Obama days to actually look into what in the world he is talking about.

A clarion call from President Trump’s opponents is a return to civility, whatever that means in the world of politics. Trump has a penchant for using nicknames for his opponents so Biden was asked about a nickname he might use for Trump. He chose to use the word “clown”. Maybe civility is in the eye of the beholder. Later, Biden went on to call Trump “a no good SOB.” Well, now.

Biden was asked to give a nickname to Trump and responded: “There are so many nicknames that I’m inclined to give this guy. We could just start with clown. When he says these ridiculous things he says, I mean this, I put my hand up and say, ‘Everybody knows who you are,’ because they do know.”

Biden said he wanted to run his campaign on a higher level. “The only place he [Trump] has any confidence is in the mud. The only thing he doesn’t know how to respond to is issues and specifics.”

Also during the private fundraiser, Biden said he expects a “nasty race” against Trump. Naturally, he preemptively blamed Trump for the potential nastiness. He said he expected the press to go after him and his family, including his son’s divorce. The funny thing about that is it has been the press who ran stories about Hunter Biden’s divorce (and dating his deceased brother’s widow), not Team Trump. Projection much, Joe?

His first rally in South Carolina, before the evening fundraiser, produced a beauty of a sound bite. Pandering to the audience, he accused the mean Republicans of wanting to take away voting rights, pointing to recent legislation hoping to tighten up areas like voting integrity. The Democrats are still beating the dead horse of a trope that simply asking for identification from a voter is an act of voter suppression. So, Uncle Joe took it a step farther and lobbed the Jim Crow grenade.

“You’ve got Jim Crow sneaking back in,” he said, referring to the era before the civil rights movement. “You know what happens when you have an equal right to vote? They lose.”

Remember in 2012 when Biden told Obama voters that the Republicans, including candidate Mitt Romney, wanted to put black people “back in chains”? How about when he said he’d like to take President Trump out behind a barn and beat the hell out of him? Now he says he probably shouldn’t have done that.

Meanwhile, Team Biden has a bigger problem online. CNBC reports that a Biden parody website is easily found on Google, but not his actual campaign website.

Users are reporting that the former vice president’s official 2020 campaign page is nowhere to be found on the first page of results for the search term “Joe Biden.”

Even worse for the Democratic front-runner: A realistic-looking parody site featuring images of Biden touching women and children appears to be doing quite well on Google and other major search engines, particularly for the search “Joe Biden website.”

To add insult to injury, JoeBiden.org links to a White House page. The page is titled “Trump Administration Accomplishments.” That’s got to be causing heartburn for the campaign’s communication team.
