Israel Blocks Greta Thunberg's Flotilla

As you've probably heard, there is a flotilla of boats heading for Gaza with the intent of thumbing their noses at Israel and delivering aid to Palestinians. Today the flotilla got close enough that several ships, including the one carrying Greta Thunberg, have been boarded.

The Global Sumud Flotilla, as they call themselves, has been issuing panicky messages on X all afternoon. "Emergency Alert!!!!!"

Greta Thunberg issued her own "Emergency Alert!!!!!!"

This was followed by even more emergency alerts.

Emergency Alert!!!! We have formed a drum circle.

This is actually pitch perfect for a climate alarmist like Thunberg.

Israel issued a warning that the ships were headed into an "active war zone" and told them to stand down.

At that point there was only one thing left to do. Break out the big, red exclamation points. If you thought you'd seen emergency alerts before, you hadn't seen anything like this:

Could they put any more exclamation points in a single tweet? Why, yes, they could. I can't even count all of these.

They quickly began hinting that the people on the boats were in danger.

Jeremy Corbyn, who lost his post as PM over an anti-Semitism scandal within his party, weighted in.

They seem upset that Great Thunberg's star power isn't bringing them more attention.

They claimed Thunberg had been kidnapped.

Here she is being given a bottle of water and a jacket by Israel. THE MONSTERS!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the activists are announcing a hunger strike.

So some of the boats have been stopped and others are continuing toward Gaza. And that's where things stand as I write this. It seems likely that all of the boats will be boarded before they arrive in the next 9-12 hours.

Israel has offered to take and deliver the aid on the flotilla ships to Gaza. Also, Greece and Italy have offered to deliver it to Cyprus where the Catholic Church would deliver it to Gaza.

On Wednesday, the Greek and Italian foreign ministries issued a joint appeal asking the group to transfer its aid supplies to the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, which would deliver it on their behalf. They said they were concerned that the activists could jeopardize the peace plan that the United States proposed on Monday.

“At this delicate juncture, everyone must refrain from initiatives that could be exploited by those who still reject peace,” they wrote...

Israeli officials had offered to transfer the ships’ cargo to Gaza if they would agree to offload it at an Israeli port or another port in the region. Organizers rejected that offer as disingenuous and said it proved that Israel did not actually consider them to be linked to Hamas.

So that's it. They aren't really concerned about delivering the aid so much as they are about making a bunch of emergency alert messages on social media. This is an anti-Israel PR stunt first and a humanitarian effort second.
