Yesterday Ed wrote about a NY Post follow up story looking at additional email from the hard drive allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden. These 2017 emails involved Hunter Biden reaching out to China’s largest energy firm to set up some new deal in which he and other members of his family including Joe Biden would benefit.
Another email — sent by Biden as part of an Aug. 2, 2017, chain — involved a deal he struck with the since-vanished chairman of CEFC, Ye Jianming, for half-ownership of a holding company that was expected to provide Biden with more than $10 million a year.
Ye, who had ties to the Chinese military and intelligence service, hasn’t been seen since being taken into custody by Chinese authorities in early 2018, and CEFC went bankrupt earlier this year, according to reports.
The NY Post contacted various representatives for Joe Biden but no one would comment on the story. Today, Fox News’ Mike Emanuel did some follow up on that story and added an important bit of confirmation. According to Emmanuel, two sources have confirmed the content of those emails.
At the end of his report, Bret Baier had a question: “Mike, one clarification. You said the May 2017 emails, that two sources have verified them to Fox News so are we saying that they saw them contemporaneously, at the time—that kind of verification?”
“One of the sources was actually on the email chain,” Emanuel replied. He continued, “There are a variety of people on the email and so we reached out to one of the people and that person responded back and said, ‘Yeah, this is a valid email, I was involved in the communication, I can verify the communication at the time.'”
So that explains why the Biden camp hasn’t denied the accuracy of the emails. You can watch the full exchange below. There’s an odd moment at the end of this clip where someone apparently turned on a vacuum.
But before you watch that, there’s also another exclusive story out this afternoon from Breitbart News. Breitbart was given permission by one of Hunter Biden’s former business partners, who is now serving time, to access his email account. In that account, author Peter Schweitzer found a string of emails in which a group of wealthy and highly connected Chinese business people, many of them members of the communist party, sought help from Hunter Biden’s business partners to set up a tour of the White House. Hunter Biden was out of the country at the time but his business partners apparently arranged the tour in a matter of days in hopes the contacts they made would benefit their business dealings at some point.
White House logs confirm the visit took place on Nov. 14, 2011. Breitbart also identified some evidence that the delegation from China was welcomed by Vice President Biden. Specifically, they found a document in which one of the leaders of the 2011 delegation from China claimed they’d been welcomed by Joe Biden.
This is exactly the kind of thing that the original NY Post alleged, i.e. Hunter Biden setting up a meeting for a Burisma executive to meet his father in 2014. Joe Biden has denied any formal meeting took place with the executive but in a Politico story his campaigns said it couldn’t rule out the possibility of an “informal interaction.”
In a statement, Biden campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said, “we have reviewed Joe Biden’s official schedules from the time and no meeting, as alleged by the New York Post, ever took place.”…
Biden’s campaign would not rule out the possibility that the former VP had some kind of informal interaction with Pozharskyi, which wouldn’t appear on Biden’s official schedule. But they said any encounter would have been cursory. Pozharskyi did not respond to a request for comment.
Now the Breitbart story seems to suggest a similar informal meeting (not mentioned in the White House logs) took place three years earlier. And in this case there doesn’t appear to be any question about the legitimacy of the emails because they came directly from one of Hunter Biden’s business partners.
In short, it’s starting to look like a pattern backed up by verified documents. That should make it much harder for the Biden camp and the media to ignore it.
