Zachary Greenberg was charged Wednesday with three felonies and one misdemeanor in the attack on a conservative who was recruiting students on Berkeley’s campus. But despite the case proceeding we still don’t seem to know much about him or what motivated him. Earlier today Campus Reform reported that Greenberg has a history of working at various universities:

Campus Reform identified a LinkedIn profile, appearing to belong to Greenberg, and sought to verify the contents of that profile and whether they match the work history of the Zachary Greenberg who allegedly appears in the video…

San Francisco State University said that Greenberg graduated from the school with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2012. The LinkedIn profile lists two jobs at the school, one being an undergraduate researcher and the other a lab manager…

The University of California-San Francisco confirmed to Campus Reform that Greenberg worked in the school’s Department of Neurosurgery from May 2012 to May 2013…

The University of California-Berkeley confirmed that Greenberg volunteered in the college’s Helen Mills Neuroscience Institute from 2012-2014.

According to a screengrab posted by Campus Reform, Greenberg was in pre-med classes and working toward an MD/PhD at one point. He’s apparently now employed as a software engineer. Greenberg was walking home from the Berkeley library when he spotted the table being manned by Hayden Williams and flipped out over the signs he saw there.

But the brainy pre-med student doesn’t seem to match with the black-clad, angry bro who threw punches over an offensive sign. Yesterday Fox News reported Greenberg also has a history of problems with his roommates:

[Hayden] Williams’ attorney, revealed on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” that Greenberg has had previous legal issues. He had allegedly filed numerous restraining orders and small claims against his roommates and also sued landlords — but the cases were dismissed, Williams said.

Greenberg was also the subject of a restraining order in 2017 that was requested by one of his roommates, Dhillon said. That order was reportedly granted by the courts and, according to legal documents obtained by Fox News, Greenberg was also forced to turn over his 12-gauge pump shotgun and boxes of ammunition.

Greenberg is very litigious but has lost nearly every case he has brought, which suggests his perceptions of things may not be completely accurate. I’ve had some bad roommates in my time but I can’t imagine it coming to the point of dueling restraining orders. Someone involved in a squabble that escalates to that point has to be a bit off-kilter. And given that Greenberg’s roommate actually got a restraining order against him (not to mention what we saw on the Berkeley video), I’m thinking Zachary Greenberg has a problem.
