Yesterday Ed wrote about Joy Reid’s support for a 9/11 Truther film and I wrote about her Photoshop of Sen. John McCain as the Va. Tech shooter. Both items were uncovered from her old blog, the one she recently claimed was hacked. The hackers must have been busy because yesterday the Federalist also uncovered several blog posts suggesting Reid is not a big fan of Israel. In one post she agreed with former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad when he suggested Israel should be moved to Europe:
I hate to admit that Mr. Amadinejad has a point … but it was the German government of the 1930s and the Vichy French who perpetrated and abetted the Holocaust (and a plurality of the Israelis are former German nationals, plus lower castes consisting of Eastern Europeans, Russians, Sephardic Jews from the Mediterranean and at the bottom of the social pyramid, Falasha Africans …) It does seem a tad cheeky of the British to have unilaterally awarded the victims land belonging to living Palestinians as restitution. After all, God is not a real estate broker. He can’t just give you land 1,000 years ago that you can come back and claim today.
In another blog post, Reid (or someone) trashed CNN’s Wolf Blitzer as an AIPAC “flak” for showing “affinity” for his Israeli guests.
If there is a more biased figure in the televised media than CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, I would be interested in finding out who he or she is. Blitzers interviews today with the Israeli and Syrian ambassadors tp the U.S. on the subject of the escalating war in the Middle East coulnd’t have been more different. With the Israeli ambassador, Blitzer was solicitous, even posing the incredible question of “what can we do” about the deteriorating situation. We??? Would that be we Israelis or we in the United States, Wolf? Mr. Blitzer, a former flak for the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) — though you’d never know it from his CNN bio — has consistently carried on that job in another form in his capacity as CNN host. He doesn’t even try to hide his affinity for his Israeli guests, or his partisanship for their cause, while turning instantly to prosecutorial mode when questioning any guest who has the dumb luck to be an Arab or Muslim in King Blitzer’s court. It’s actually quite stunning how brazen Blitzer’s bias has become. At this stage, should not CNN disclose to its viewers Blitzer’s background as a stenographer for the powerful lobbying group that holds the whip hand over Republican and Dmeocratic members of Congress alike, and whose role in a certain series of Iran-related spying cases raises troubling questions about whether foreign agents are operating inside the United States, with the purpose of screening American foreign policy in the Middle East for the government in Tel Aviv? (Or twisting it on Israel’s behalf…)
You get the impression that Reid’s not a big fan of Israel. She also wasn’t a fan of RNC Chairman Michael Steele. Jeryl Bier came across this old blog post in which she compared Steele to rapper Shock G (remember the Humpty Hump?):
So, here's something I just ran across… from @JoyAnnReid's old blog. Mocked @MichaelSteele with a "separated at birth" photo. (From Feb. 9, 2009) pic.twitter.com/KPSZ7KSWMB

The real problem for Joy Reid is that there’s probably no end to this. She was writing multiple posts a day for several years so I doubt we’ve seen all the objectionable material on her old blog. The even bigger problem is Reid’s insistence that some of this material is the result of someone hacking her blog. If Reid had simply confessed to the posts about gay marriage and said she regretted them and moved on, she could simply refer to that response every time an awkward blog post turned up. But she refused to do that. Instead, she admitted there was no proof someone had hacked her site (after first claiming she had proof) but refused to really own the material. That means each new post comes with a question: Did Joy Reid write this or did someone else? I think we all know Joy Reid wrote all of this. I think MSNBC knows it too which is why they can’t think of anything to say when asked for comment about the latest blog post that turns up.
Finally, there’s the double-standard. If you think Roseanne deserved to be fired for a racist tweet, why doesn’t Joy Reid deserve the same for her commentary about gays or Jews or for flirting with a 9/11 conspiracy theory? What does it actually take for someone on the left to lose their job? Here’s S.E. Cupp suggesting Joy Reid has “an Ambien problem” but will be given immunity anyway.

Update: About 25 minutes after this went up, Joy Reid issued another statement saying she is embarrassed by these old blog posts. She apologizes to John McCain and says she has no doubts about who was behind 9/11:

This is a much better statement than the one she made on air in which she refused to admit there was no hacker. It must be great to be a progressive and be given 4 tries to work out your shifting apologies over a period of six months. I wonder if Reid truly appreciates the progressive privilege she’s benefitting from?
Update: And MSNBC has issued a statement of support:

I actually think it’s reasonable for MSNBC to say these are old blog posts and not terribly relevant. But what about the Reid lying about writing those posts? That doesn’t even get mentioned, like it never happened. She’s just given a complete pass on her poor judgment and dishonesty.
